OBX 2.2L header

i was looking around in past 2.2 threads and came across the OBX header. It says on ebay that it is a bolt on replacement with no modification. but in a previous thread it was said that it is a pacesetter knock off and that would require cutting the DP to make it fit. so which is it is my question lol. Also in the picture the OBX looks like it has a 2 bolt collector and the stock is 3 ? wtf? has anyone installed this yet ?

Thanks so much!

here is the auction for it.

the obx header needs the obx downpipe or you will need to modify the header to fit. i'd say get the dp too anyaway you'll get better results with both.

i need to have a cat here tho. so thats my issue OBX doesn't make a header DP combo with a cat and the position of the O2 sensor means it would get cut out with the addition of a cat which makes for custom work at a shop to add another 02 sensor hole.

you could also use an aftermarket dp with the 2 bolt flange, but good luck finding that at a good price. most muffler shops want an arm and a leg for cats.

get a magnaflow cat for $80 and pick up the right flanges and get a shop to mandrel bend the piping the shop cost including bung placement shouldnt be more then $80.

hey there why not get tuned and eleminate the cat codes so you can just use a catless dp?

can you get to the states? i'd highly suggest getting the mandrel bend cause compression will kill the header performance period. either that or pony up for a header/dp combo that includes the cat, they're expensive but it'll be well worth it.

thats what i plan on doing, i was also looking at OBX heads and realized the 2.2 are long tubes where the 2.4l are midlength and comes with a catless DP for the same price.... the 2.2 "will bolt right up" and the 2.4 will need whacking of the coolant line, i'm gonna go with the 2.4 on my2.2 because it comes with a downpipe to complete my full exhaust, once done i'll be posting vids in the 2.2 section, i should get the exhaust in a week and hopfully the head/dp soon afterm within 1-2 weeks.

sucks you can't go with the 2.4 and get the DP because of your cat laws

will the header not fit from below? i don't like the idea of whacking anything that has to do with cooling the engine or myself for that matter.

the obx 2.4 will fit, but you will have the whack a coolant line, its a hard one, so no problem...ill post a pic of it in a bit, the header goes in fine from the top and bottom, but the #4 primarie will touch the line, and it wot let you position the header on completely, you have to whack it a bit to scoot it over to the right...than it will fit, the OBX the OP postes will connect to the head fine, b ut you will have to cut ur stock dp right at the top of the CAT...

here is a pic of the OBX compared to my vibrant, the vibrant also has the same fitment issue from the coolant line,i outlined the line i am talking about, and on my vibratn you can see the whack marks i left, but the line can take it

Jn2, maybe you could help me out, i'm a bit confused after reading your post about th eOBX header, i heard that the 2.4L will bolt on if you smack the coolant line, would i be right in saying go this route because it come swith a downpipe, that way you want have to cut your stock dp and weld, it would just be a full bolt on? correct me if i'm wrong, you have me scared of getting heads now because it rewuires cuutting and welding. the 2.4 OBX heads come with downpipe and the 2.2 dont, thats why i ask

Are there any negative side effects from moving the Coolant line out of the way? I cringe at the thought of beating the line with a hammer, but if it's not gunna have any negative side effects, I suppose a rubber mallet doesn't sound too harsh.

My header has an exhuast leak and if i'm ripping it off to replace the gasket, I might as well upgrade.

there is no negative effect, you wont even notice, and your nly scooting it over maybe a 1", and do it slwly not by one big smack...

look at the pic i posted in page 1 at the bottom, the OBX didnt require moving it and the vibrant did, and like i told the OP, he might have to move it if he gets the 2.4" header, no sure, just assuming for the worst case scenerio, thats the worst that could happend, and its a easy fix
