Oil Sending Unit

Okay so I finally got around to hooking up my Oil Pressure sending unit.

I had to put it in the side of the block on the right in the middle. Is this area restricted?

Next question the only reason i didn't put it where the stock one is, is because with the 2.4 manifold the primary intake tubes of the manifold are bigger and blocks the sender I need a 45 degree angle adapter to make it work. Has anyone with the 2.4 intake manifold on there 2.2 have a sender installed in this location?

Block oil pressure = minimum 50 PSI at 1000RPM, at idle 25 psi hot, above 1000 RPM 70-75 psi hot.

Head oil pressure = idle 11-17 PSI hot, 50 PSI above 1000 RPM hot.

i remember someone on here made some attachment that allowed his electrical sending unit to fit. I think it was a copper pipe and joint to move the sending unit out of the way. it should be on here somewhere but i cant remember who did it.

or u can run a mechanical oil pres. gauge. Some people think its not safe tho.

I'm going to use the same location only for my autometer oil temp. gauge. I does not matter if there's a restriction there because it's only going to read the temp. of the oil in the head.
Also while I'm at it I'm going to run a bosch relay from the battery to power the gauges. I hate tapping into the fuses I'm going to do it right the first time.

lol yea. im actually usin your way of doin that but moddin it a lil. im usin the braided stainless hose and a 90 to come off the back side of the motor (the side by the fire wall) from the oil galleies under the header. im not for sure but i think it will work.

The galley plugs there will certainly give you the block pressure reading...just not a "warm Fuzzy" for me to have the oil tube so close to the exhaust -- manifold that is. If you do it with a header you might have more clearance...post pictures!

yea imma do a how to on it when i do it. i've got all the parts and gauges waitin to go in. i've got a header and there appears to be enought room under there to do it. thats why i got the 90 thou so i can keep the hose close to the block.

thats true but since i have a full sweep electric gauge i think it would work even with the 2.4 mani bein the sendin unit is waaayyyy smaller than a short sweep.

Let us know if it works out. I did not know that the full sweep had a different sending unit.

I just got my autometer elec. oil temp. gauge (Full sweep also) and the sending unit is this very small 1/2" wide probe. I will easily go into any galley plug under the intake manifold.

ok heres the update on the idea i had for the oil galleies on the back side of the block under the header..

it works. parts you will need is the autometer 2278 metric adapter, 1/8 npt pipe nipple 2'' long, 1/8 npt coulping, 1/8 npt male to -4an male 90, autometer 3' braided stainless steel -4an hose, and the other fittin you need will come with the braided hose but i'll tell you what it is anyways -4an male to 1/8 npt female coupling which is included with the hose. i used the oil galley closest to the passager fender under the header, then ran the hose across to the driver side around the block (over the trans) and attached it to the ac hard pipe thats right there on top. i will be tryin to make a how to on this and hopefully it will get approved.

note this may not work with the factory exhaust mani.

i now have a how-to up for the install i was talkin bout.
