Your exhaust might be touching the heat wrap over the fuel lines. Check where the exhaust pipe goes over the rear crossmember and bends upward. I think you might see that the exhaust is touching something and burning it away. You might not have replaced the correct exhaust hanger with the one they provided.

bad smell is a normal part of a new exhaust, it will go away... basically it comes down to running very hot gasses through a pipe, and everything is being burned off it... glue, paint, grease, etc... will go away... could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on how you drive... it's not really so much about the mileage as it is how long you drive each time

ok I guess that i Will just have to deal with it for now.

Not to be rude and change the subject but does the pacesetter have a breakin period were The sound will change as it breaks in. And will the car sound better with a cai.

have you actually heard one?? or just on the web... because i love my pacesetter sound, and every other person here that i know of that has one loves it as well... i think it sounds great...

anyways, yes, take the stickers off if you haven't already... those are slowly baking off and will leave a nice black residue

the ehxuast threads are great in theory, but you hvae to remember that it's going to sound a LOT different in person... anyone that makes videos (i do it for a living) know that the sound changes after recording it, unless you have proper microphones and equipment... the online sound clips don't do any of the exhausts justice

I think it sounds very good its deep very deep at idle you have to here it in person the videos lie it worth the $200 if you dont like it then move up ($) from there. also at the high rpms there a litle rasp between gears u can getrid of this with a resinator.

I have an auto to but for some reason my auto shifts harder than most(cherps the tires going to second) and theres a little rasp.

I raced another LT and my car shfted harder and faster than there's back when I was stock.

I heard Mercury's SS with, he just put it on so it wasn't broken in yet. I suppose I could always go with a different muffler like Borla or Magnaflow.

There's not going to be much of a sound change over time. The muffler is all metal, with different chaimbers to set the tone, instead of a packing that heats up, bakes, and changes the sound over a few thousand miles. BUT, a CAI will change the exhaust tone, little deeper at idle, little louder at WOT. And even more if you add a header later...

by the way guys, that smell isn't stickers, its the paint on the exhaust. My pacesetter is painted, and i even added some antirust paint durring instalation. I smelt somethin commin from the car when i installed it. after a while the pipe where the flange for the cat is is starting to burn the paint. don't be alarmed. U can just throw another coat whenever u get her in the air!

No, these will make it more agressive, louder. More flow though the exhaust, more sound. If the sound is too loud for you, look into adding a resonator...

It'll never sound like a 6. It'll just get louder...

Ok, pacesetter does use a channeled and fiberglass-filled muffler. It will change tone some after a week to a month. Little deeper at iddle, etc. The smell is the paint and the fiberglass baking. Had one on my neon, and it the smell went away after a week or 2.
