Powell Racing Stage 2 Rotated Mounts

Hey guys,

I got the Powell Racing Stage 2 Rotated Mounts installed for our L61 w/ F23 tranny.

Took about an hour to install(haven't worked on my car in ages).

Vibes are barely there on idle, a little vibration when initially giving throttle but it smooths.

Vibes are definitely there with A/C-on idle. Smooths out a bit after the car has been run for a bit.

Hope this info helps you guys. And yes, wheel hop is gone.

the more popular version of these are the OTTP "stage 2 rotated mounts" - which are in fact Powell designed units, which were (at least initially) authorized to be made and sold by OTTP...

Had I known - I would have bought straight from Powell.

The current OTTP rotated mounts are not Powell made, and I don't think they are even the same dimensions. Meaning they may or may not work as well as Powell originals. Powell has rotated mounts for all manual transmission cobalt, hhr, and ions

To my knowledge, neither OtTP or anyone else offers mounts for the F23 which is what this thread is about.

Powell is the ONLY vendor which makes them for the 2.2.

For the 2.2 w/ F23 Stage 2 comes with what I believe to be a Cavi front mount with a composite insert. A shim is installed in the rear.

I'd suggest anyone with a 2.2 do this sooner than later. With the mods I've got it's been impossible to improve the 60ft time without a traction mod. With these installed I can now scream through first right in-between having traction and none. Excellent.

Bought these on Monday I went with stage 1 as John suggested. I believe because I'm NA and don't need any stiffer of a rear mount.

Question to anyone that installed them: Did you have to jack up the engine then "shimmy" it until it went to its correct rotated position? I know for the F35 mounts your supposed to shake it so it rests in the correct position or else you get bad vibes.

the rear shim is a pain in the ass. the first time i did it i had my jack about a foot too far forward and couldn't get the tranny bolts in. so i took back out the shim somewhat tightened things back down, moved the jack to the differential which issssss about a foot from that rear mount and did everything the same, cept this time i unthreaded but did NOT remove the tranny bolts. Then I raised the jack about 1 more inch and blam was able to shake things around a bit until the shim went into place. Once the rear was done, the front was a cake walk.

SO remember, jack/support the diff about less than a foot away from the rear mount, remove the three bolts on the subframe, do not REMOVE but DO UNTHREAD the tranny bolts, then jack up about an inch more, shake shim in, lower that almost an inch so it mates with the subframe end of mount. then do the bolts as the instructions indicate.

Is this the right mount? It's just like plastic with a different inner bushing then the rear spacer since I only got stage 1

I've been on the stage 1 rotated mounts for just over a week now (if i remember correctly, weeks blend together on me) no vibes at idle or any rpm range, if you turn the AC on you get some vibes but its def less a week later than the first night. And wheel hop is gone

hey John can you PM me a price on the stage 1 rotated mounts just for future reference? i just installed coilovers and if i start getting axle bind i may install these if they will help that and if the price is right, although i may need a new axle(s) first. i found a small pin hole on my driver's side axle boot when installing the coils, so i melted some rubber down and put over the hole and then put some rubber under coating spray over that so hopefully it holds for a while yet, it has so far

I love this mount, I got it for my cobalt when I lowered it and it is great, no more hop and car shifts smooth. It is one of the best mods for a 2.2.

haha badass. I'm seriously considering a kit based on the 9-3 aero setup.

just need to get a full parts list done and price it all out.
