probably need an actual exhaust shop

i went to meineke and midas today to try and buy a custom 2.5 cat back on my LS. midas had magnaflow mufflers in stock which i hoped to throw on, but this dude tells me none will fit and that the 2.5 piping will not fit either? i don't understand why these shops couldn't put 2.5 piping on my car? i don't want to resort to buying a name brand cat back cause i don't have the money, so am i just going to have to find a real custom exhaust shop to do this?

2.5" WILL FIT.

They do not want to mess with it. By the way stick with 2.25 unless your going to go FI.

Whereever you do go MAKE SURE ITS MANDREL BENT and not CRUSH bent.

edit- why couldn't you add this to your other thread?

a real custom exhaust shop is going to charge as much as a low end name brand cat back.

meidas and meineke arent exhaust shops bro thats why they cant put it on.... Go to a real exhaust shop and you can get a exhaust for cheap... BTW never cheap out on products on your car because in the end your just gonna be paying for another part...

But its your car if i were you i would save for that name brand exhaust as their tested on the cars

a cat back is just piping bro. its just like over spending on an injen intake when you can buy the same piping for 1/4 the price. you are paying for the brand logo on your magnaflow and corsa exhaust...

overspending on an injen is called buying quality. compare an injen to the JDM ebay **** and tell me you're getting real quality with that ****. i dare you to buy your custom catback exhaust and then compare it to my corsa sport catback and tell me i overspent on it. you get what you pay for and i pray when you get that cheap ass catback fitted you have the common sense to get a resonator like the one that comes with all the overpriced systems.

Here we go again.

Yes it is just piping. But also change the angle of the bends and boom you have instant air flow change.

I purchased a Pacesetter catback system, and HATED IT. Replaced the resonator with one from Autozone and muffler with a flowmaster 40 series. Loved it!

He is right about CERTAIN flowmasters you HAVE to get a straight straight flowmaster DO NOT get a offset.

not trying to start **** but you get what you pay for and assuming that you'll get the same thing for less is not clear thinking. we may spend more on these overpriced systems but we're paying for a system that has in many ways been tried, tested and 9 outta 10 times fitted for your particular car.

Let alone EASIER AND FASTER TO INSTALL!

If you want a cheap exhaust buy a premade one(cheap) MAKE sure it has a resonator and just replace muffler. Won't be as good as the name brand ones, but its better than stock.

Then again after all that money I spent on all that over a year I could've bought a Borla.

I did the figures and I was pissed. I was like I could've gotten a Borla with what I threw at my car in exhaust. Then again it was fun changing it out.

so you're saying with just a different resonator the pacesetter is good for you? i heard the whole thing was crap and didn't fit correctly... if so i might consider that because im getting tired of this loud ass exhaust i have.. plus they welded it right onto my stock dp so i cant change it out unless im ready to get a header/dp/cat

if you want a cheap catback look on ebay, search for cobalt exhauts, you will see someone selling a steel ctback exhaust, just the piping and mendrel bent, 1 piece, they selling it for 125+shipping, shipping isnt alot either, so its pretty cheap, than you just throw whatever muffler yu want on it, and it comes withhangers and flanges, u just gotta find someone to weld it up for you
