Project Cobalt LS (speed channel)

just watched it on redline tv. it turns out an exhaust and an injen intake got 15whp gains and 13 lbf trq!! the injen alone with the exhaust on got 7whp gains on the short ram version. it was a red 2.2 ls coupe.

fyi for all you 2.2 guys. i bought the ECOTEC performance book out of the gm parts guide and its just for you guys not for the 2.0. it shows you how to make your engine go from stock to 250hp. 250 hp - 400 hp . 400hp - 650hp. 650hp - 1000hp and 1000hp - 1400 hp. just thought i would help you guys out. p.s if anyones in southern cali and want to buy it for $10 its yours. i bought it for $20

LOL same here.

FYI: The L61 and LSJ share many of the same characteristics so it CAN apply for the LSJ as well, not just the L61.

As far as buying the book, no need to...I got mine for free at a show. There are also PDFs all over the place but in my opinion, it's kind of a pointless book for the average tuner...I mean, it basically tells you what you already know...if you want up to 250 HP, get the supercharger or turbo, if you want 400 HP get a turbocharger. There are some helpful things in there but that's basically what it tells you. Notice there is no mention on Tuning though...

That show is on now, here. They said Injen intake and GMPP Borla exhaust (so I'm not sure which one it is)

It's a repeat, I saw it last year, bout Oct. You do have to remember though, not all cars are made exactly the same, so some peoples #'s may be more or less than what redline t.v. had.

I just watched it again (Saw it last year). The Cobalt they have was equipped with the Secondary Air Injection system (while they are taking out the air box they're holding up the SAI intake tube). They didn't even bother saying what they did with the SAI tube after installing the Injen air intake. So far we've found only the K&N air intake has a connector for the SAI. **** poor show for not telling all.....

Partly true....there are several other states that have these emissions requirements too. Some Cobalts (member's Cobalts) in Mass., New York, Maine, and Vermont have the SAI.

I think that is because the Cobalt drag cars use the 2.2L as their base. Not sure about the road racing cars.

Whats interesting is that car they used had Secondary Air Injection. It appeared that once they were done they simply let the hose hang instead of adapting a filter or something to it. IT probly slaps and hits crap like crazy.

I like how they fir the SS lip kit on the body, but they did the typical big ass wing on it

Hey guys; quick question. I plan on getting the GMPP cat-back exhaust during the spring and plan on installing it with the vibrant header/downpipe/high-flow cat as well; this is in addition to my cold-air intake. Given the results from the speed channel cobalt, what do you think my gains will be as compared to stock? Would 20whp be a reasonable gain to hope for?

I live in NV and ive got that SAI. What the hell did they do with the SAI piping since it doesnt fit in the injen intake? Can you just let it hang there with no problems?

Shouldn't leave it hanging -- the pump will be sucking unfiltered air. Sand and dust will eventually wear out the pump. You can put one of those small filters on the end of the tube.
