I'm gonna make some vids and make a youtube account tomorrow
What most ppl don't understand is all ecotecs are based off the 2.2 platform, and gm racing uses it for all of their racecars if I wanted a ss/sc or ss/tc I would have bought one, paid out the ass for internals and spent wayyyy more for a hell of a lot slower car then I have....lmao! Imo, the 2.2 is a great starting point to make a hell of a fast car if you do ur research and spend ur money correctly and wisely..2.2 ftw

what are you putting down to the wheels?
you can get a good priced tc and break good numbers stock internals and a bigger turbo + its better all around in terms of interior and suspension....imo if you could start from the top why start from the bottom? with a ss/sc or tc half your problems are solved vs buy'n a 2.2

Bottom line is I didn't wanna pay 20k-28k for a ss/sc or sstc (witch wernt avail. In 06) so I bought the lightest possible platform coby I could and dumped my money and time and knowledge into it... as of right now I'm prob only 25k into it and it should run high 9s to mid 10s all depending on if I hook up good enough lol

I kinda wanna see sum more vids on these 2.2 turbos. I know the ecotech is a stout little engine...but how much boost can it take?!? These drag times are insane and very fast. Also how are you guys tuning to support the turbo install?? Everyone brags...but it's hard for a novice guy to jump into a turbo build. And my state checks for trouble codes and emissions so i just can't see throwing a big turbo on and searching for a tune that works and even causing premature damage to internals and trans. You can turbo just about any car but will it be durable enough to drive every day without problems???

So my initial question was how reliable is it? Can this continue to be an everyday car after i turbo it?

And if I were to turbo charge it, how reliable would my car be to get to school/work and back? Or take it on a road trip

Somebody once told me custom cars have custom problems. If you do anything you should assume your going to run into issues in the future like replacements parts or down time.

Just like it says at the top of each page in this forum the car was designed to be :
2.2L L61 Performance Tech 16 valve 145 hp EcoTec with 155 lb-ft of torque

If you push it farther your decreasing the life somewhat, your changing the magical formula GM spent years on to make the car reliable in stock form for how ever many miles they intend for it to last. It wasn't intended to be boosted. That being said, many people have had f/i installed for a few years now and are still running on stock internals.

There is no reply to your question that entails a simple yes or no imo.

The biggest issue with the L61 is the lack of forged internals from factory. Once you get that out of the way, it takes to boost wonderfully.

I have a 2006 Cobalt ls. I have an ss manifold and an ss turbo. I have an intercooler and hot side dejon pipe. Where can I buy all of the hardware I will need to complete the kit? like oil lines and so on?

Update on my car: just hit 700 miles on new engine should be ready for good oil and new plugs in about a week. Did a couple wot pulls for data logging for vince and it spun the tires through mid 4th gear speedo read 130 and boost was only hitting 15-20psi
