cant you just cut 1" off your stock shifter and put the knob back on and that would be the same as a short shifter?

Uhh.. no. a short throw shifter doesnt just shorten the length of the stick, it literally shortens the throw from gear to gear as well. There is a difference.

TWM is the only company that makes a shifter for the 2.2s. Other members seem to like their product, I'd suggest starting with them.

shortening the stick is just for looks. technicly it actualy makes it harder because your reducing leverage. A short shifter reduces throw at the linkage joint at the shifter. sometimes its one little peice, i think in the cobalt its kinda involved, not sure. but yea. TWM SHIFTER FTW!!!

I have a TWM and highly suggust one. It cuts the throws in half atleast. Also get the upgraded 454 g. knob. The heavier the knob the easier it is to shift since it will help with leverage since the shifter is shorter.

I'm going to have to get the TWM shifter, i'm putting it off because the install looks like a paint in the ass, and it's freaking -20 - -25 here.

Who makes this shifter? Does it work in a 2.2l cobalt? Any modifications needed? Thanks!

If you had read the whole thread, you would have seen quite a few people talking about the TWM shifter.
