I personally wouldn't do that. Think about it. You are going to the dealer to get rid of your limiter so you can go faster than 104, mean you want to go fast, meaning you will be W.O.T. I don't think they'd void your warranty but I sure as hell wouldn't be surprised if they did.

you think that GM would void your warranty for driving a car withing the physical limits they set ...

they are more likely to void your warranty for using a programer

Not necessarily. I belive newer programmers have the option to return all the settings back to stock if you need it to be done.

Yeah the programmers get great gains with the trucks. Especially diesel engines, however the gain for us would be about 10 whp. But yeah you'd be able to set your govenor or speed limiter to like 200 if you wanted however I don't know if they have one out for the 2.2 yet.

2.2 with shitty tires from factory are limited because of their tires (they don’t run out of revs at 105mph) ....you could have got a sport package that put your top speed past the 105 ..(ask permafried for details) that’s what celica cobalt and I are referring to ..that the dealer will up your speed limit (not your rev limit) thus you don’t need a Programmer of your own and that it certainly wont void your warranty since they sell them like that off the lot (provided they have better tires)

But just the simple reason that you go to the dealer to get rid of it says that you wan't to see how fast you can go. Because if you didn't care about how high your top speed was, you wouldn't be going to the dealer to get the limiter removed.

BTW, I did say speed limiter. At first I said rev limiter but then I corrected myself.

exactly ...they cant void your warantly for going over the speed limit ... or even going to the max the rpms will let you ... its laughable to think so ... if it was dangerous to the car they would have set it lower

I e-mailed Unichip last summer about my 2005 2.2L and they said they had plans to make a plug-n-play application for our engine. After all this time and not seeing anything, I saw a magazine add about a new programmer product from Unichip. I e-mailed them again and they responded, telling me that they are waiting for some thing to be released from GM for the 2.2L before they can complete the product. They confirmed that it is still in the plans. My advice, just be patient and take a trip over to http://unichip.us and e-mail them. The more interest they get the more likely they are to move it up on the list.
