Running Hot

Hey guys, quick question... my coolant temp is normally between 182-192 or so, and today while driving it was fluctuating between 194 and back... at one point it was at 200... is this something to worry about?

croSSoverkid 01-23-2006 10:15 PM

were u doing any heavy driving at the time, i noticed that one time at the track, but it never happened since.

Chevypowered 01-23-2006 10:15 PM

its not running hot until it goes over 230

p7x 01-23-2006 10:16 PM

thats a lil above average, did u ever leave ur car running at any time?

RaineMan 01-23-2006 10:24 PM

I wouldn't worry until it gets over 210... these things run on the warm side... I think the thermostat dosen't even kick on until 192...

ok that makes me feel better.. thanx guys... pretty normal driving, i was coming home from work... i hd the car sitting for a while warming up, it's cold here in north jersey tonight... thanks for the answers though

Chevypowered 01-23-2006 10:58 PM

Mine will get to 225 in the summer then the fans will kick on, like someone else on here said these are made to withstand more heat without causing failure. Anything above 230 is geting too high

abcrazy 01-25-2006 09:19 AM

i thought the same thine.it would sometimes run at 225 i brought to the dealer and they said it dosent kick on till 225 and that the fans were running fine. try taking the enigne cover off that keeps some heat in.

hey ab, where abouts in north jersey are you??

M-Dub 01-27-2006 10:28 AM

I've had mine go to around 200 before.... but then the fans kicked in and it slowly started to drop!

OniMirage 01-27-2006 10:52 AM

here in az 200 temps are well known and common place ... your car will be fine
