Simple Engine Mods

hey guys

i'm new to the sight, and don't know a lot about engine work, etc...

i've been looking into going to school for it but don't think i can go back to not making any money...

anyways, my question is, if i do simple performance modifications like, intake, headers, exhaust (full cat back), and maybe a performance chip (not off ebay haha), will this bring a HP and tourqe gain of apprx 30? i'm not out to beat an SS if i wanted too i would've bought one lol i think to bring the HP up to 175 and torque to 180, a LS could be pretty quick...

anyways if anybody has any suggestions let me know

thanks

you would probably get 20whp out of your mods if lucky, bolt ons usually arent too dramatic

It's possible, but I think you'll end up with about 160hp which is still respectable.

I'm not sure if there is an Underdrive pulley, but I had one in my S10, and it helped out quite a bit. It just spins all the accessories less, so you don't lose as much HP. A CPU reprogramming would be key too. I also got after market plug wires from summit racing, and those helped a little. You ntoice a little more of a kick, but again, I had a 4.3L, I don't know how this wold all work on a 4 banger.

I am thinking about saving up for a good Air Intake to add to the car (auto), any input on how much it will set me back and how much of a gain will I get ? Also, is reprogramming the chip safe? I heard its risky business and can seriously cause some damage if not done properly....
