the standard of installing a CAI/Headers/Exhaust is about the easiest way to gain more power. I think with all that installed you could see gains around 20HP. Don't quote me on that tho cuz I'm not 100% as to the gains especially WHP. If and when a turbo kit comes out that will definitely help.

Either get an tune from HPtuners or someone else that has a package for the 2.4l, OR look at an autotrans interceptor or some other comparable electronic plug in for your tranny.
The HPtune is probably your best bet. It will get your ECU to stop babysitting you, set your rev limit and top speed higher, have your transmission shift more aggressively, drop your WOT from 93% or so down to 88%, so on so on.
Even though your auto is heavier, you'll get more consistent runs , (Can't miss a shift in an auto) with the right adjustments, you'll be rocking *****.
Yeah and wait for the turbocharger for this engine. Us 2.4l owners will be a force to be reckoned with!

trannys good up to about 220 TQ stock, or 250+ TQ with a tranny cooler
were still all waiting on tuning, but it seems like SCT has the ECM down pretty well, though they havent released anyhting for the TCM yet

Welcome to the site! I wouldn't call your decision dumb, but manual sure can be fun! If you want some decent power gains without digging too deep into your pockets, get intake/header/exhaust. I guess it all depends on what your goals are; if you want alot of power, you're going to have to wait on the tuning for a little bit longer before you go f/i. Either way, manual or automatic, if you want a lot of power in an LS, there will have to be transmission upgrades. Again, welcome to the site!

Check out this Thread. My car is currently getting boosted, and will have the dyno sheets out in a couple days. It should give you plenty of power =P and we are going to find out how the fitment is for automatics. At least it will work no differently for them, just might have fitment issues.

its only cheap in the short run....comparing nos to a turbo is like buying a car up front (turbo) or making payments (n20..payment per bottle)

to pay for the cost of a turbo kit, the average person would have to spary for like 8 years.

modifying an automatic is pointless
