Go with the CA setup. The SR setup just sucks up hot air on our cars im told.

I just noticed noticed that you have non S/C model. It actually wouldnt hurt you to go SR due to no hot S/C under the hood.

yea and i talked to a buddy of mine, who had the sri and switched it to the cai. he said that he noticed more of a pick up in low rpm's with the sri then the cai. does that seem right?

Yup. The intake is further away from the engine drawing in cooler air.

so they both have pros and cons.

seems like the cai is only good in high rpm's but better for the engine since it brings in cold air,

but the sri is better cuz it makes a bigger difference in low rpm's but it brings in warm air.

Yeah but I would just go towards the CA setup. The engine just breathes better...

I've had both and personally I noticed more of a difference with the SRI. I usually don't go out until late anyways so it's usually cooled down by then. There was a noticeable different in power over the CAI as well.

i had mine with the SRI and i noticed quicker take off but as soon as speed built up it sucked because of the hot air, then i put it as the CAI and i noticed the same take off and still built up speed quickly. In Florida it rains alot so I was worried about all the puddles and my passenger side inner wheel well is out so i built a nice shield and the filter stays 100% dry even hitting the puddles...go with CAI

I just slapped on my AEM CAI and i love it. Awesome sound and performance. I'd go with the CAI if you can. I've noticed a major difference in overall performance. Don't worry about the water issues, its rained 18" where I'm at in TX and its doing just fine, no CEL or any problems. You would have to submerge the front end of your car for hydrolock to happen from what I've read in other threads on here. I got my CAI $190.00+ship new off eBay w/ AEM dryflow filter for anyone looking for a price range.

you shouldnt have to worry about water with the CA. the bumper and tire well acts as a good water repellant. plus the filter sits right below the headlight so, unless you go that deep. your fine.

I wouldn't go with a cold air personally. there isn't anything wrong with them, in theory they can make more power. the water thing you're worried about, don't be. if your in enough water to cause a problem with the intake, thats the least of your worries...

sucking up hot air isn't really a bad thing for a street driven car, your not building an all out race car now are you? the big benefit to warm air is it makes the ignition process easier and more effecient, which means you will burn more of your fuel and get better fuel mileage. the air is also less dense, which means your taking in less air, which results in a need for less fuel, less fuel (especially the $3+ a gallon stuff) means more money in your pocket. Its a neglegable difference between the cai and sri, but every little bit helps.

If you have the Injen.. I'd suggest CAI... I have the injen and I ran bothe... I live in Alberta Canada.. lots of snow.. and latly lots of rain.. no problems at all with CA.. the reason I went from short to long was that when the injen is installed as sri... I didn't like the lack of support it had.. the only thing holding it up was the clamp on the throtle body... So i wen CA just for support.. now I just plain like the way it looks

and im glad 1 member found out after he posted at least. LOOK TO SEE WHAT ENGINE HES GOT IN HIS CAR. ITS NOT SUPERCHARGED. dont talk about blowers here or anything. erg take notice before u post. its stuff like that making this website inadiquite for reliable information when members post up inacurate information.

I know your talking to me because I'm the only one here who has mentioned the AEM but please don't insult my intelligence. Just because i don't write up my long ass story about how I've talked my friends and relatives who have the injen cai/sri and how they prefer the cai over the sri along with the hours of looking up info. Plus i do look at a persons car info before i run my mouth...if you would take the time to see what model cobalt i have, you'd see i have the same as Danny. i was just giving an opinion based on the research I've done plus what my CAI has done for me. He asked for an opinion and he got it. I'm not bashing just take notice

im not bashing you dude. i totally respect the fact that ur modding ur car, ur having fun with it. to measure someones knowledge on the internet is very hard. so i always give people the benefit of the doubt that they are smart. im sure u do know a lot of cars, family friends etc.

its just the original post was all about sri vs cai. and the facts lay down that u havent had a sri to compare to in a cobalt application. thats the ONLY reason why i said that. its just compareing sri and cai ona car. mostly its preference. its all the same tho. thats why getting a injen intake is so beneficial cause its made as a sri and a cai.

again danny this monday we can do ur cai and ur bowtie

I understand i should have tossed in that i did do comparison research with the cai and sri in my original post but you know how it goes, late at night, long day at work lol things slip the mind. i was just mad because you made it sound like i was giving info without knowing what i was talking about. I should have elaborated instead of a strait up answer, lesson learned, but its all good though. upload some pics when you guys install it.
