Exclamation Starter HELP

hey guys i pulled my starter as it wasnt cranking the car. I hooked it up to the batt and it pushed out the pinion with the gear on it but it didnt rotate the shaft at all. Is my starter bad? also can autozone test it as well?

I tried having autozone/napa/schucks test my alternator last month, and they couldnt because they said the car was to new. Now im sure they could test the starter quite a bit easier but i wouldnt count on it. If you are putting power to the starter and the gear is not rotating, then its most likely bad. Take your car to the dealer and have them replace the starter under warranty. Or at least try.

the only way really to test it is to take it out of you car and take it to autozone...obviously in a differant car... cuz they can test it there. its really easy to take it out all u need is to jack up the front end of the car.

its two wires and two bolts.

It is however a dealer only part or gmpartsdirect.com. I just went through this last week because i had a freak incident with a power wire shorting out. I went to a junk yard and got one for 60 bucks, but if you want a new one look to be paying about $287 with shipping and core charge.

if you try to spin the pinion gear by hand (either way) what happens?
