Time to save for turbo!

Screw it. I change my mind like crazy sometimes, but a friend convinced me that turbo would be the best for me. So starting now, all my funds are going to saving up for a turbo, most probably the zzp stage 1 kit.
CURRENT FUNDS: $1400
CURRENT MODS:
Injen CAI
Sportlines
ZZP midlength header/dp
Shift+
Eibach Rear sway bar (if it ever comes)

PLAN:
Ok so first, I need to pay my insurance, so I'm putting $1000 away for that until I pay it, hopefully it doesnt cost that much XD.
I want to upgrade to FE5 suspension, so another $370 is gone.
$30. ****.
$500 for season lift ticket.
-$470. I'm off to a good start.
Atleast i have a job.

So, I guess I'm gonna save up about $3k, for the kit AND installing. Theres no way I can install it myself, so I'm saying 2000 for the kit, 1000 for installation. If I get stuff cheaper, GREAT.

Does anyone have suggestions for a noob going turbo'd?

well first off i would sell the intake and header if your going turbo because you wont need them. second what power goal do you have in mind for yourself?

Well, it's going to be a while before I get all the money and whatnot, so I may as well keep them for now. As of right now, I don't have much of a goal, over 200whp is good enough for now, and there is always room for improvement.

Now if I get the zzp kit, would it be beneficial for me to get a 2.4 intake manifold? Better yet, would it be necessary? I am only 16, I don't even have a drivers liscense yet. I don't want to immediately hop into a death trap... but I still want to build up power.

Am I in over my head with this turbo ****? It seems like a TON more work than going supercharged.

well what i would do is invest in the hahn intake manifold instead of the 2.4 manifold. its not a piece of plastic like the 2.4 and can handle more psi. i dont know much of the zzp kit but i would recommend the hahn over anything. or do like me and build your own set up. since you want just over 200hp and some room for a little improvement i would say get a gt28r turbo.

but keep in mind that the more power you push, eventually you will have to upgrade your internals. like the rods

maybe you can find a kit in the classified for dirt cheap. and even tho the 2.4 is plastic it will hold up. if hes aiming for a little over 200whp he will be fine. if you can find a way to get some SS/SC rods to work in your car i got some im tryin to sell for about $200, brand new

I need to save 1000 for insurance, so I'm considering myself at 400 right now.

oops lol.. and dude you can install it yourself.. just take the oil pan off to a shop to get it tapped if you're worried about that part .. hell theres a shop up by me if you're willing to make a hike thats done some turbo swapped balts and they're great on labor rates and i'd be close by for the tune.. that shop has worked with one specific balt on here everyone knows

good idea paying bills though man..

like i said if you need help let me know.. the classified section here has been poping up with turbo parts all over so i'd say look here first

and

blackbalt707 you need custom pistons or bearing to make the LSJ rods work.. someone did it before i think

hows your build coming?

i dont either man. its real depressing, its pissin me off. i wish i could have been there to mess with it but i had a friend of mine build it for me cause im over in the desert right now....i guess i should have waited. its baffling how all of a sudden it wont idle. is there any sensors that might control the idle that my friend might have missed? im hopin the CEL will tell him the problem

im wondering if it needs to be tuned.....everything is the same, i got same compression pistons, i didnt add any cams or anything.. just stiffer and upgraded valve springs and valves...well i know it needs to be tuned, but if a tune would make it idle
