Top speed

Does any one know what the top speed in a 2.2 cobalt is and if there is a governer to limit speed?

my 2008 had a governor of 108 until i got tuned which i havent tried to go more then like 115 yet

It's set to around 108-110 in most cars. It's set for a reason, and that is so you don't go faster than what your tires are rated for. If you get better tires, I've heard you can take it to the dealership and they can adjust it for you.

i have a stock (untuned) 2008 4dr 2.2 i hit 115 & it stoped there lol

all depends if yours came with steelies or alloys.. i still dont see any reason to go over 125 **** even if your doing a 1/4 mile you need to have some serious power...

5th gear redlines (with 7k limiter) at 162mph
we tried this on the dyno
my car will do just above 130mph before wind resistence negates any acceleration
gov stock is 105ish on ls
lt with better tires i think is at 120mph

99% of the time they wont for you and arent supposed to
usually and for almost all people...you ahve to get a tune

you should not need to go more than 90 anyway. it's stupid to do over a 100 on STOCK wheels. keep to the speed limit if you want to live.

I got bored one day and did a comparison speed comparison between BlackMagic and Armor All tire gels. Black Magic lasted up to 115 (on jack stands). Armor All flew off ALL OVER MY GARAGE!!! Any who 115 ish for me.
