find the wheel speed sensor wire that goes to the pcm. put a switch on the wire leading into the car. when you get to 110 flick the switch off and there ytou go

Or find someone with HPTuners, it is my understanding that it can be removed with it.

If you want to go faster than that you may want to get tires with a higher speed rating. I don't know what current tires you have on there but I would seriously reccomend NOT trying to remove the speed limiter. How long does it take you to get up to 112?

The motor just doesnt make the power in the upper range to push the car past 100 in 4th gear. Shift to 5th and mat the gas. JohnnySasakiMGS is right though if you dont have the tires DO NOT attempt those kind of speeds. A tire blowen out at a buck 20 will have an extreamly negitive affect on you health.

Fast you can set it too is 120. But check your tires cause they probably arent rated high enough

you can remove the speed limiter and change shift points on an auto tranny with hp tuners on a 2.2. waste of money if you ask me because you can't tune anything else with it. not worth hundreds of dollars to change your governor. on my 2.2 i had the car up to 115 or so, and there was just nowhere else for it to go. took a helluva long time to get there too. how high are you going to get the car, MAYBE 120 for a nicely modded 2.2. so an extra 12 mph, and an extra 3 miles to get there.

Can we make one of these threads a sticky. i swear they show up at least once a week. If your car isnt making the power to get to the limiter in a quarter mile, dont worry about it.

that's such a muscle car thing to say. "if you can't hit your governor in a 1/4 mile don't worry about it? I dunno, it was just a joke tho.

WTF, the 2.2 isnt that flippin slow. Well, stock and with an auto it is but mine will haul to 110 (just did yesterday before i let off) in 4th gear no problem. It has the power you just have to free up the exhaust first, the dp and exhaust mani on the stock 2.2 is the killer if you ask me.

Is this true? How did I not know this? I mean a tranny tune on a 2.2 isn't worth much on its own, but I never knew I could tune my trans. how exactly does this work? Once my friend hooked my car up to HPT and he was able to log it but we didn't try anything else.

as far as i know you can't do anything except change the shift points. pretty sure it's been known for a long time, but the reason why no one does it is because what's the point really. you can't adjust anything else, and just raising the shift points isn't going to do anything. so why spend 500 dollars for it.

True, but if my buddy can help me play around with it for free it'd be worth checking out. Thanks man.

i would double check with halfcent he'll know all about it better than I would. i just remember looking into it when i had the 2.2, but decided it wasn't worth it. if you can mess around for free, nothing to lose though.

17 seconds to 112 in a 2.2 don't think so.

He forgot the 0 behind 17 so 170 seconds...that sounds about right.

i think around 30 seconds would be more realistic. i know it took me a long time to get there. never timed it though.
