Trifecta economy only tune***

For those that have been following and/or doing these Trifecta tunes for your 2.2L, is there anyone, like myself, who would like a tune on a stock 2.2L for the potential increase in gas mileage only?

I emailed Vince and asked the question. He said that he hasn't really evaluated a stock 2.2L to see if only a gas mileage increase could be done, or that on a tune it would be beneficial enough to do so.

He needs a local 2.2L owner to do some evaluations on to find out.

Hopefully others...local others , are thinking the same thing and someone does the duty of letting him test out a mpg increase tune on their car.

Waiting patiently...

Yeah, he said the car has a 14.7:1 a/f ratio during normal driving that can't be changed, but he was still open to the idea that an increase in mileage can be had...only needs a test car.

Mine is an auto and is already getting that on the hwy...last trip I took was a hair under 200 miles(one way) and the econ stopped at 37.3 by our destinations end. It was still rising, just alot slower, naturally.

So when does this 14.7 AFR change, cause I have the tune and it never seems to drop off according to my dashHawk. I guess commanded is different than actual though.

Not sure, I already deleted his email but he said in normal economy driving, which I would assume is less than part throttle, it remains at 14.7:1 and it can't be changed. He did say the timing could possibly be tinkered with to make an increase in mileage, but still needed a test car to confirm.

I wonder if a normal piggy back mapping system and a laptop could do the fuel curves?

His address is: vince@trifectaperformance.com

Ever been to the track? I'm in the process of getting an Ecotec powered car and I rather get an 07 or 08, but cant stand the fact of no cams, so I'm thinking 06 is my year.

lol. dude i already told you, command AFR means what the car is trying to stay close to. Its not a wideband...

What you just said is the basis of my initial post. Im interested in economy only with my 2.2L auto. He said that he would need a stock 2.2L to play around with to see if a tune can be made for the sole purpose of increasing gas mileage. It would collaterally have to be a slight performance tune, seeing that the only real way to increase the mileage per gallon would be to fool around with timing and the AFR/fuel curves, i.e. leaning the mixture out some.

I could care less about rev limits and speed limits and the transmission shift points, etc.

Increase my MPG only.

If you were willing to let him do some tests with your girls 2.2L auto (hopefully it's stock) to see if he can boost the economy, that would uber rule!

yup, hers is BONE stock performance wise...and mine is not so stock :P
just so you know, hers is tuned right now as stock and it did increase her gas milage from around 30 to around 36 per gallon..i drive hers alot and we have been watching this.
Contact Vince and let him know that you would like this tested and that you spoke with me and then him and i can get together sometime
