Can you dyno?

I have the same car and planning very similar mods so this is disappointing...

With it being a 2.2, you should only get maybe 6-7 hp out of that tune.

You can't expect it to be a drastic noticeable change unless you're putting out a lot more power.

Would there be a difference between manual and automatic?

you got half of a free flowing exhaust and you were expecting tons of power? try getting a header/dp and high flow cat and freeing up the engine to really breath.

you got choices on the header/dp. search the vendor forums for the best cobalt worthy systems. the 2.4 obx header can be found on ebay and will fit with a little force but i can't be sure its a quality product. the next most inexpensive will be the cobalt addiction shorty header but it's at least another weeks wait and i have to get a final sale price from them but it won't be in the range of the leading brands.

well the car got 4 hp gain alone stock when vince dynod his testing 07. with the 2.4 intake mani, you should really see about 8-10. probably 6 from the mani, and 2 from the CAI if it is a CAI and a few from the bigger catback with no resonator.

i didnt feel much of a gain when i got the tune but i still need to get the 2.4 intake mani and headers/dp.

This is not a big V8. You are not going to get 25 HP from a tune. What the tune allows you do do is maximize the power that you get from your modifications. The more mods that you have the more additional power that your going to get from the tune. If you want power, you need cams. If you want big power, you need forced induction or nitrus.

I am curious what kind of gain that you got from just your cams. 15? 20?

That's Right
Even with my OBX Header/LSJ Downpipe there's still restriction at the cat and that's why I only got about 5-6 Hp out of the tune. I'm going with a custom 2.25" Dp with Highflow along with a new trifecta tune for my new mods and STG 1 cams. Should have it all done by next Sunday

I would have not been suprised if you would have beat a 2.4 without the cam based on your other mods. If you don't have a HP number, just say so.

so if i got this stainless steel down pipe with no cat would i have a muffler shop weld it on and he can cutt my cat off and plug in the 02 sensors and thats it or what. i'm thinking of zzp shorty header and and the downpipe no cat. so i could putt my headers on then have the shop do the downpipe and thats it, also would i have to be retuned?????

if you delete the cat you need to retune or you'll throw a **** load of codes and more then likely see your car go into limp mode. i would highly suggest a quality dp to go with your header of choice. most muffler shops will give you a half-assed bent dp and call it a day.

Muffler shop won't do that for you,I was going to get that done with a catless downpipe, they refuse to do it with out a cat.converter.As for your mods even though those are consider basic, when you get the downpipe and header put on,your car will be running much smoother for sure.the only way to find out what hp and torque you have is to dyno it,then take it from there. Also another suggestion you can get nitrous like Spankey's Monkey, and to let you know you will notice a good gain from it,believe me I raced spanky's monkey hah

so even with that zzp downpipe with it being taped for the o2, the the shop still wouldnt do it? and i would be getting codes? this rely dosent make sense with the o2 sensore being in the dp. or is just becasue of the more flow running through it.

it's got to do with emissions and how the ecu is designed to meet those specs if you **** with that and fail emissions it's quite possible that you could try and lay blame on the shop cause they did the work. not to mention they could legally be held responsible for the work. **** cafe and all the goddman tree huggin yuppies that support that bullshit. /rant

well if you go catless regardless you will throw a bullshit cel,all this edmission crap is just for the states to make more money when they give you a ticket for registry problems when you fail the edmission test for something stupid like this.If anything cars don't need to be tested. Its the bus's and trucks that need it.Believe me I am a bus driver and when I clean my nose everythings black from inside my nose.

I guess if you saw this more you might change your mind about emissions.

And then to think about what the skyline looked like previous to this strict emissions testing. it was a lot worse.

that is caused mostly by diesel vehicle's.You know how many semi-trucks go through the states?Tons every single day go through state to state blowing out black smoke. If politicians really gave two ***** about the environment they would test the diesel vehicles. They are in it for the money not because they give a **** about the earth

diesel goes up momentarily then drops down to the surface. it's a common misconception that people hold when they see diesel smoke and relate it to the haze over cities.

sure some of it is diesel, but most diesel emission sinks down and adheres to the surface of the planet.

what you are seeing in that picture is mostly everyday cars and emissions from many sources.

learned about diesel in an environmental science class, it's heavy and sinks to the surface quickly, whereas lighter fuel like unleaded regular floats to an extent and takes a long time to come back down.

the same los angeles scene 20 years ago was far more thick and dense, and no it wasn't because there were a lot more diesel vehicles moving about. it was so bad that california began instituting the most strict vehicle emissions program in our country. and look at it now, still dirty. but nowhere near dirty as it used to be.

but to get back to the point, cat's are important, but not so important on our 4 bangers. Even with the cat removed, if one checked the actual emission output, they would pass in most cases. of course ignoring that you've removed a required piece of equipment from your car.
