some of us have been waiting alot longer than a month or two

and yeah HP Tuners doesn't think the demand is there so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them

however if u check the Tune Time Performance thread apparently they are trying to get something together similar to what they offer for the 2.4

if he thought there was demand then he wouldn't be taking his time IMO

sounds like its on the back burner til other projects are completed first...

ive got two months maybe three till i dump the slobalt. im looking into either an 05 v6 stang or an early model s2000 which ever i can get the best deal on. gm has really screwed the pooch with this pos car, i was planning on trading up to a solstice but im not gonna support a company that doesnt support its customers.

aye you serious? its GMs cheapest car to the best of my knowledge....(aveo might be cheaper..) this wasnt made to be a speed demon...it was just made to be faster than the Civic, Corolla, and Focus...and i think the Jetta too...GM just wanted a car faster than the other companies baseline cars

you set your expectations way to high...its only a $12k car

ill give you that its an entry level car but the base cars of other manufacturers can be tuned!!! i dont know about you but the reason i choose the 2.2 to begin with was the fact its about 200lbs lighter than an ss model. slap a turbo on a car thats lighter with larger displacement and youve got a more than competitve sleeper. this has been the formula for going fast since time began. my complaint is gm put a choker on an otherwise great motor with this new ecm, and i revile them for it.

According to HPT's web board, there will not be support for the E16 this year. That's all I got. So if you don't want to wait for at least 4 more months, you might as well trade up. Tune Time might be able to do something for us sooner, but that's all very new news, and I haven't seen any results yet.

not sure what you mean, as far as turbos go all you need other than the ability to tune for it is an exhaust manifold flange and access to tubing and a bender. get a turbo and a matching flange, goto your local speed shop and have them fab up some flexable oil lines get an intercooler and plumb it and youve got boost on a budget. i turbod my old crx for about $1100 and i was leathal on the highway. kkk porsche turbo on a zc twin cam black top motor.

my argument here: cobalts only been out 3 years...all others have been out for a while now

as far as the turbo goes...doesnt Hahn make a turbo for 2.2? i thought the issue was no one could tune the computer to support the turbo

Just cause they fabbed a turbo kit doesnt mean they have the tuning to run it correctly

Well the 2.2 turbo system was made for the J-bodies. The engine bays are different between the 2 so that might cause an issue.

If you guys really want tuning but have no aftermarket support, why don't you look into Standalone Fuel Management units?

Also, halfcent, I don't know too much about the fuel system on the Cobalt 2.2s but would an FMU be able to work?

I sent Hahn Racecraft and e-mail asking when the turbo kit for the 2.2l would be released and they reply with possibly later this year. Don't give up on the 2.2l just yet!

u arent without your car any....u send them the form....they make the tune to what u have...they send u the pcm to install...u get the case learn or if u can do it yourself or it doesnt need it then thats great....2nd u send them your old pcm...they keep it for you just in case you add something else and then u call them and give them 50.00 and they tune ur old pcm for your new stuff if i remember all this correctly....so there is no down time on this at all

this is getin ridicolous with the tuning of the 2.2. we have been waitin for so long and nothing will happen of this. how is there not a demand for this tuning...so many 2.2 balts were sold compared to the 2.4 and 2.0. u think they would put out a tune for it...i give up.

It just stinks that as soon as a tune is released for the 2.2, it'll likely have its priced juiced up nice and high because there will be no other competition for it.
