Acctually it looks fairly easy. I plan on doing it myself, when I get my short shifter.

I just ordered mine and it should be here on Thursday, not to one up you man or anything ha, but yea hopefully it should be easy. The dash and whatnot is pretty simple to take apart, so hopefully the actual shifter install isnt too bad

The cutting isn't a big deal. It doesn't affect the integrity of the shifter assembly.

I've installed a TWM into my car and their directions are straightforward and easy to follow. Pulling the floor console is a piece of cake. The shifter is a great, solid piece of engineering if you ask me. The solid aluminum shifter bushings are a MUST even if you don't buy the shifter. They help the feel of your shifts that much. Having had my shifter for a month, I wish I would have ordered one of their Bombshell shift knobs just for the shape of it.

can you get the bushings seperately? I already have a short shifter in my ION, and don't want to re-buy a mod just for slightly better response when there's other things I want to invest in. IMO the bushings would make it feel 3x better.

You'll have to contact TWM about getting the shift assembly bushings. Assuming there were no changes between the Ion and Cobalt shifter, I'm sure they could work something out.

The TWM shifter is an excellent piece. I don't know about the $50 ebay one, but the design and function of the TWM piece was impressive and the change it made in the overall feel of the shifter is amazing. It went from sloppy and annoyingly long to short and crisp.

OMG I freaking love it, I just put it in, it was kind of confusing and took a bit of time, but god damnit was it worth it. I took it for a spin after just to make sure everything was hooked up right and whatnot and I couldnt stop laughing cuz it was soo much fun. Man great product TWM.....I love it!
