Be nice.

Since he posted in the 2.2L Performance section....I'd assume he drives a cobalt with the L61.

There are sooooo many variables, but I'd estimate and I stress ESTIMATE... somewhere around 20hp at the crank at best.

Yeah, if I had to guess I would say somewhere around 160 - 165 HP and 170 - 175 TQ (at the crank of course).

put it this way. if u wanna go fast u shoulda bought an ss.

plain and simple man.

this 2.2 is not a race engine as is. adding those things will help performance but dont expect it to beat ss/sc, srt's, wrx,

Check the sig. But I also have a downpipe and high-flow cat.

Going from the stock rating at the crank and back-calculating from the numbers at the wheels, I gained upwards to 20 crank hp.

Minimal increases.

What are you trying to accomplish power wise? What is your goal? How much money are you overall looking to invest?

Just take your time and shop around for the best prices. Also, check the classifieds on this site; there is usually something good up for sale.

uhhhh .....Yeah it will. An automatic transmission will lose more power between the engine and the tires than a manual

The reason I asked is because if he is an auto, he would do well to spend some of that money on an engine and tranny tune, to put it on a more level playing field with how a manual would shift.

if you want to do something noticeable, work on the suspension. all the engine stuff you want to do won't make much difference at all. I did a gmpp exhaust and i can't feel a difference. they claim a 12hp gain, I think not. but gas mileage is better! you will probably see 5 or so mpg with those mods, if you don't drive it twice as hard because its now "fast"

Even if that's what he meant....that still makes no sense.

And it's centrifugal by the way.

I'm guessing your dyno guess rating is really low, since 2.2's are dynoing low 130's stock. But I guess it is better to guess low than high.

Please oh please tell me where there is actual tuning on a 2.2L. (sarcasm) Not piggyback.

they claim a 12hp gain, I think not.
There is at least 3 people on here who have dyno'd 11whp or above.

As for some of you being asses, WTF? He asked a simple question. So he wanted a simple answer. Not "don't mod, its a 2.2L." Or "you won't even notice the gains." Or "minimal increases." What does that mean? To me that means a 1-5hp gain, 20 crank hp is a significant increase over baseline. I guarantee if this was posted on the 2.0L area, it would get the "you will easily be pushin 220whp, 2.0FTMFW, keep modding" I am getting sick of you guys talkin' crap about us 2.2's. How about you all just don't post unless you are answering his question.

Will-B: I would say, depending on what brand of parts, you will be anywhere from 160 to 170 crank hp. As for seat of the pants dyno, you will feel that. I also suggest getting a high performance downpipe to really take advantage of the whole package. When I began modifying my car, I installed the GMPP intake and sport exhaust first, which bumped power pretty good. Then I installed the GMPP exhaust manifold that resulted in a little bit smoother powerband and a little more noise. But the mod that I believe made the biggest gains was my downpipe. It opened her up so much. I am now able to spin the tires for about half a sec in 2nd gear. Not to mention it made the exhaust tone significantly louder. 2.2L's FTMFW, keep modding!! Keep in mind, my car is an 07, and has major tranny improvements over 05-06, and a bit different engine control. Hell, my computer learned that the XTC downpipe is "normal flow" and the CEL has stayed off even through WOT.

This is a 2.2L. Nuf said.
