warped rotors?

Last summer when I bought my cobalt I insisted on getting the dealer's service records on the car. I was instantly pretty happy because they had replaced the front rotors which I knew have big issues with warping. So now I have driven this car not even 5k miles and the brakes started making a rubbing sound as im coming to a stop. It rubs once every revolution of the tire when applying the brakes. It isn't a grinding or squealing sound either, as I immediately checked the pads which have plenty of friction material left. So the question is, have the rotors warped this quickly? And if so what would you guys recommend I do as far as new rotors and pads so I dont ever have to deal with this again.

Edit: This is a 2007 LS with drums on the rear, its the front brakes making all the noise

Edit (again): Darn, just realized this is in the wrong section...

just replace them. buy a decent set for maybe 40-60 and pads if you need it/can afford it (since they're not that expensive)... everytime you replace your brakes, you should also replace your rotors. so it's not something you should just let go. replace all at once and you should be good to go

Plus Callehan comes with warranty not that it really matters

right on. never be cheap when it comes to stopping power. when rotors and brakes need to be changed, change them. regardless if they need to be or not

If I was in your place I would go back to the dealer since they are the ones who installed them, however if they were done for the previous owner they will just tell you to buy more and not cover the parts and labor.

they would cost more in labor than the parts themselves. and he's upgrading, therefore he would spend double the price.... brake jobs are easy as hell

I actually picked it up at a dodge dealership, they had taken it as a trade-in. So when they installed them they probably had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Also that reminds me of another question I was going to ask. When I was looking at the rotor on the driver's side I noticed that with the caliper off you could actually grab it and wiggle it from side to side. I thought that was a problem, but the passanger side was the same so I just assumed this was normal and the caliper and wheel itself hold the rotor straight...or am I mistaken?

you didn't say for them to do a diagnostic..just sayin... regardless, dealer would probably have charged him for something he could find out himself or buy asking us in this case...oem suspension/braking parts are usually ****.

everyone drops because of the outstanding handling you will have... not just for the looks. if you can learn to handle bumps and stuff at an angle, it's not so bad

rotors are held on the the caliper and the wheel. if you take the wheel and caliper off, the rotor will slide off just like your wheel does.
