Weight Reduction

I'm not too happy with the weight reduction threads. Iam just wondering how light do you think you can get your cobalt? I know mines like 2750...thinking if 2500 is doable? Granted 250lbs is alot of weight. What can spare, rear seats, interior really weigh :O) chime in anytime gents

Ditch all but the drivers seat, rear seats, all trim pieces, carpet, spare tire and all the stuff in the trunk, lighten the wheels, lightweight hood and trunk, eliminate the stereo, ac setup. That should shed some weight.

IDK about your car but on mine the Rear seat/passenger seat, everything in the trunk, carpet/sound deadening and spare/jack is good for 190lbs. Registration says it's 286Xlbs stock. then normal stuff that losses weight like getting rid of the airbox, exhaust, flywheel, battery/etc.

Anyone remember what the Grand-Am cars weighed? I wanna say 23xxlbs, maybe 25xx max? I know mine is 2990 with me in it and a full tank of gas. If you really want to get serious, ditch the sunroof (if you have one) for a carbon fiber plug, get rid of anything power - locks and windows if you have them. Kill the A/C system, get a lightweight exhaust system, and if you're REALLY feeling froggy about it replace the windows with light weight material.

I think it was lighter than the Grand-Am Cobalts because of the rules governing Grand-Am Cup cars. Now I'm interested....

-lookin at my reg right now says 2733 so lets say your right and its 190 for that stuff(seems kind of high) but that would put my car at 2543. Say carbon fiber hood and trunk(give it 40) that would put it in 2500ish and ac delete and power steering well idk what that weight so all together youd be high 2400's and if u had hucker or nawes engine pushing around 200whp n/a :O) isnt that a quick car :O) i would feel like an american civic tho haha

I got rid of my sub, spare and muffler.

If I had to guess, 50-60lbs?
Plus I lost 30 pounds physically.. hahah

My goal is a even 3000 lbs. but to really have an idea I would need to weigh my entire car somehow.

175LB driver, 55lbs weight reduction.

Wiki says my car should be 2,815 lb - 3,001 lb.. so hard to say what the final weight is.
