Question What are cheap ways to boost horsepower?

I have done alot to my cobalt including a cold air intake, pace setter header, upgraded spark plugs, cat-back exhaust, and much much more just looking for other ways to boost power. Also curious does anyone know where to get a great deal on a vented carbon fiber hood?

Search.

You could also do the 2.4 manifold, header/downpipe, FI.

And yeah

Nitrous.

Have you actually ever used it? Or just going by what you see on movies/youtube vids.

I have never used NOS and am frankly afraid of the ****. seen too much bad **** happening with it and as my only daily driver i cant risk any risky business. i would say save up and boost it. your best way to make good reliable power. you can get an M62 for cheap since alot of LSJ's are going turbo or TVS

Your absolutely right. Youtube is a horrible thing. They even have a cobalt 2.2 getting blown up on there lol. I know theres correct ways of running it, and whats safe on a 2.2? a 50 shot?

yea actually.

seen a automatic acura integra go from a good running champ to a car that ran like **** and would only use second-fourth gear, only popping into third after it was warmed up for 10 minutes or so. that was over the course of 6 months.

seen another buddies car pop using it.

seen a old 1967 mustang fastback run 150 shots just fine, but he had work done to the engine.

i could go on. yes there have been good experiences, but in the long haul nitrous is cheap power for a reason. it's nature is inherently risky, especially on vehicles not specifically built for prolonged usage of the stuff(most consumer level vehicles).

Ok not torquing one internal engine bolt to spec can make your engine go pop. Its in the operators hands, like any mod.

This guy asked what a cheap horsepower fix was. The only cheap hp solution is nitrous. I get sick of threads like these where people are like "I want alot of power but dont have any money to spend", and the second someone says nitrous, which is a VERY cheap and easy fix for alot of gains, everyone freaks out.

^your absolutely right. you want good reliable HP every day, you need to pay. you dont got money but want more HP, Nitrous. Itll get the job done and wont hurt nothing if you do it right. plus it sounds badass when you purge. i want a purge kit out of my hood. that would be sick.

OH **** NAWZZZ!!

Whoaly Sheit. Nice time. WTF shot are you running to be pulling numbers like that. One of the fastest LSJ times with the stock supercharger I have seen.

I ran No2 on my 2.2 for 2 years 10-15 bottles spraying whenever i wanted. I once ran through a bottle in 3 days! I had a 75 shot. It's fine just don't go with the 2 big bottles in the front of the store in the display case..... And if your floor board drops out during a race just keep spraying. ROFL!!!!
