well that venom intake manifold looks great and would only give small gains on a n/a motor but gains none the less, on a f/i car i think it would benefit alot

Some things I see. First, the Patriot head they currently offer is an older casting design from the 2004 model year and earlier for use on the J-bodys. The 2005 and newer heads have a different casting that elimates the EGR provision. See my post about this here .

Basically, if you get the Patriot head, make sure you get a casting without the EGR. Reason being, that extra metal on the older design will get in the way of plumbing and electrical lines now running through that space. The new style head has the exact same part number as the older one, because it is reverse compatible (none of the older engines actually used an EGR). And, while and older head will work on new motor, it won't fit in the engine compartment.

Second, where exactly are you going to get 11:1 pistons? That would have to be a custom job, which JE Pistons can do for you, but it will be VERY expensive (probably a grand). If you are going to replace the pistons, replace the rods too. You might as well since you are going to have them out, and the Eagle set is only about $350.

If you are going to go with a higher compression ratio, you will need a fuel computer. The stock unit is programmed for 10:1, and anything higher could lead to pre-ignition with the stock ECU.

venom intake manifold - $1000
header - $240 (pacesetter)
cat back - $700 (corsa)
pistons - $1000
rods - $300
cams - $500
-----------------------------------------------
total $2740

160whp at most
for that you can buy a nice n2o kit and waste those unmodded SS/SC's

With cams, he will do better then 160. But I agree, thats still a lot of money for not too much gain.

u really think so? i mean i was referring to wheel hp too, so i thought 160 was generous.
