What will i need to outrun an acura 3.0c ?

my buddy bought a 98 i think acura 3.0c (i think thats what its called). i know it runs pretty good but i havent gotten to drive it yet. he is wanting to to run our cars at the track this friday night. all i know he has is the 3.0 v6 with vtec, and the idiot removed his air box and put a cone filter on the end of his factory tubing ( ungodly ugly and loud), and its an auto. i have a sedan with an auto and airbox mod with k&n drop in. do i have a chance, or should i post-pone the race until i can get my exhaust and sri? i have out run a civic with v-tec and a 5 speed. will i have my ass handed to me or do i need to just carry my kfx440 (fourwheeler) fri night? WHAT do i need to get him? any help please !!!!!!!

What cobalt do you have? Is it a 2.2 sedan or 2.4 sedan?

*Nevermind I just gathered that it is an LS by looking at your name. I would guess that hes gonna hand you you're ass. I think if it was a 2.4 SS you'd be about even...
EDIT: MY BAD!!! When i get to the homepage i click on recent topics...I failed to realize that this is in 2.2 performance...Sorry!!

Yeah but that was a chevy lumina! That car was probably at least 10 years old when compared to a brand new V6 acura. I'd be lucky to take a v6 acura with an intake and an exhaust. You may take him off the line but it'd be over by about 60'!

Yeah, in my opinion, I think you would have to have intake/exhaust/header and sticky tires to stay with him.

thanks for all the help. i tried to ask his g/f what year it was and she thinks its a 96, i dunno. i got drive it this morning. i know i can get him off the line but about after 70 or so he might get me. i was trying to learn to launch MY car. and i am clueless as to what to do, i have tried to put it in the first gear position, and hold the brake but that doesnt work to well. has anyone ever gotten the cobalt to bark a second with an auto? i did, i dont know if it was a good thing, but my perillies (however u spell it) are a lil slick. if i go the n2o way, what do i need to do? nitrous is a whole new ball park for me. and about how much do the systems cost, and what will i f**k up using it?

you wont **** up anything unless you go for more than a 75 shot without rebuilt internals. all you need to do is get the kit, make sure to get name brand, some popular ones are 'Zex', 'Nitrous Express', and the ever popular 'NOS'.

You will get a lot of people telling you how dangerous it is, how it will screw things up, bla bla bla....these are the people that you shouldnt be listening to. they wont be able to tell you a thing about performance adders other than their intakes and exhausts that supposedly add 100hp. with updated technology, today it is more dangerous to turbocharge your car than spray it with a little n2o.

If you do decide to go this route, make sure you install your system with all lines connected properly (no leaks). also, if you can afford it, look into a 'progressive nitrous controller', NOS makes a nice one.

also, there will be two types of kits...wet and dry, go wet, its safer.

modding anything on your car comes with risk, but we do it anyway. if you want to try out n2o and have trouble, there are a few people here that can help you fairly quickly (aside from the bullshitters that claim to be running a 150 shot on stock 2.2L internals)

n2o is by far best hp per dollar mod you can make.

You need a LOT more than the airbox mod. They've got 200hp/195tq if it's the same 3.0l engine that's in the CL. Although you should be 200lbs lighter, but I still don't think it's enough to overcome the 50hp difference.
