when erasing codes 2006 LS do two power cycles

Today I erased the P0171 code. I removed my scanner, turned the ignition to off (car wasn't started when scanning/erasing) and I proceded to start up the car and drove away. It appeared to be acting normally until I got up to around 30 mph and then the car start shifting strange again and up came the check engine light again. I pulled over and checked the code again and it was P0171 + P0101. So I erased the codes and then it hit me that the last time I seen the P0101 code I only did 1 power cycle. Then I remembered that a friend of mine a few years ago could not change his tunes without doing at least two power cycles. So I did two power cycles and the car has been running fine the entire day.

I haven't seen the p0171 today, it has been warm and sunny today. I'm starting to think that the foggy cold weather is directly related to the p0171 code here in fog town Saint John. According to my experiment: I need to do two power cycles for the car to act normally after erasing codes. I suspect tuning will also be the same case with these cars as I've seen other vehicles behave the same way.

Either way I found a dealer that will satelite uplink my car and download the upload the updates. Stupid dealer here
