Who win S-10 or 2.2 ls

So a buddy of mine is wanting to put his 4.3l(I think that is right) V6 s-10 against my 2.2 LS....

Who do you think would win that race...His truck is an auto and mine is a stick...
Only thing I have done to my car is the cat back...His truck is at about 200Hp with the engine I believe...

Let me know your thoughts.

I had a '94 long wheelbase S-10 with the 165 HP 4.3L v6 and ran a best of 16.5 seconds with an open exhaust and K&N drop in filter and tailgate removed.

Although the truck only had 185,000 miles on it. Just getting broke in.

My Xtreme beats my Cobalt....But my Xtreme is also powered by a 2002 Camaro LS-1. Muwhahahahahaha.

If yours is a stick, it will be close. If yours is an auto, my moneys on the S-10.

In runs slow as hell in the quarter. 2wd S-10, T-56 6 speed tranny, LS-1 and no drag slicks = tires a blazin at the 1/4.

I havent actually had it at the track, but there is no traction anywere. Downshifting for 6 to 4 at 70mph results in the rear breaking loose and craziness....The real funny part is Im saving money right now to buy the KB 2.8Liter blower for it. OMG that should be insane...I love my truck!!

depends on how far you race, 1/4 mile or what

you'll probably accelerate faster, cuz if he guns it he'll fishtale unless he puts weight in the back
i think his top speed will be greater than yours so maybe if you do a short race you might be able to win

i dont believe top speed races count as races though, it doesnt count as a win if you're sitting there at 107 bouncing off the limiter and it takes him 15 seconds to catch up and pass you while you're cruising.

What did your truck run in the 1/4 mile?

I had a '95 S10 that had the CPI 195HP 4.3L with a 5spd, but was an ext. cab. I never took it to the track, but I'd guess that it was about the same in the 1/4 mile because of the added weight of the ext. cab, power windows, power locks, A/C, Reese hitch, and the 100 lbs. the sub box weighed.

The '94, previously mentioned, had nothing extra on it or in it to slow it down. About the only thing it had going against it was the fact that it was a long bed. Even so, according to Edmunds.com, the ext. cab weighed ~200 more than the long bed.

You got any pics? I'd like to see that setup. The only other V8 T-56 S-truck I have seen is Tony's over at s-seriesforums.

ok well first off. U R G O N N A W I N. unless u really suck at shifting . i W A S T E D my friends S10 from 2000. it was my first race agaisnt my friend at skool. we still do race and he just likes getting the pants beat out of him. its on my kills list here at cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2443377/4

you have nothing to worry about. and i had no mods. he had none either. i wasted him by 3 car lengths by 40. i went to 80 and he gave up completely

im telling ya its not even a credible win by my standerds. just another kills list name for me.

EDIT: lol since is a kill for a 2.2 not credible enough??!?!?! lmfao now i know what its like for the srt4 guys against the ss/sc BURN!! jk jk

Wow, you must not see a lot of S-trucks. Two of my friends have small block chev's with turbo 350's behind them. One has an LT-1/T-56 combo, and I have the Ls-1/T-56 combo.

It really looks no different then the LT-1/T-56 combo. I'll have to upload some pictures of the swap, as I only have exterior shots of the truck right now. I dont know what she runs in the quarter as I havent had her there yet. I'd like to get a KB 2.8L Twin screw for it and a new rear end before I hit the track. Im hoping for a low 10 pass.

Heres a couple LS-1 and exterior pictures for ya. I'll upload some more pics later.

Thanks a lot. All the parts are out there to put a small block into a late model S-10. However while going with a carb (instead of efi) is cheaper and a little bit easier, you 99% of the time lose the dash instrumentation/AC/ABS etc. The reason I chose the LS-1 is because I was able to retain the factory instrument cluster, heating and air conditioning (yes I want AC in my vehicles..Only the Z lacks it, and thats only cause im in it for 1/4 mile at a time) and ABS. ABS on trucks is nice.

Air ride technologies is the only way to go. A triangulated 4 link rear, and shockwave front bags. Im going to be swapping to a late model F body rear end, as soon as I have one narrowed and get axles for it. The LS-1 is out of a 2002 Camaro. It has the LS-6 style intake manifold, ported throttle body, v8s10.com headers, and hopefully within the next year, a Kenny Bell 2.8L twin screw, AFR 225cc cylinder heads and a cam swap.

How far is trenton MI from Chicago IL? If you ever get around to doing the S-10 SB swap and need some help, let me know. If its not to far of a drive, i usually work for a couple bottles of Corona!
