Is it worth building up to tune for more power

Some of you may have seen my post recently about my 2.2 build. First of all let me start by saying I only have access to 91 octane. I use octane booster with every tank just to give me a little more piece of mind. I currently have ZZP's 3.1" pulley on my M62. Currently I am hitting about 17 degrees ignition timing advance at WOT. I know that supposedly these cars make power up to 24 degrees?

I am trying to decide if eventually down the road it would be worth building the lower end with at least rods and pistons. I like the idea of this for reliability but I was kind of also wondering if I would be able to squeeze much more power out of it with the M62 blower. I don't think I should really drop down a pulley size as I don't know how safe that would be with 91 octane. If no more power is to available with the M62 then maybe eventually swap to the TVS blower?

Does anyone know of a thread or any sources that explain what all is involved with building the bottom end? If I do end up building the bottom end, what other things should I upgrade (head studs?) while I have the engine apart?

I am learning as I go here so please excuse me if I said something ignorant. I am just trying to see what you all have done and what you think is worth it.

You can download the gm ecotec build book for free online, that would be a good place to start.

You can make better power with a turbo. Honestly it's not a lot of work. All the bottom bolts are a 1 use type for the most part.

I am pretty invested in the supercharger at this point and if I was going to go turbo I may as well just start off with a different car. Just trying to decide if it is worth upgrading the internals.

If you plan on upping the power any then I definitely would, should be fine at that level for a long time. Just don't wait until you are pushing too much power and snap a rod to decide to upgrade, it's been a sad 3 months not being able to start my car haha

What kind of setup were you running when this happened if you don't mind me asking? Do you know about how much boost and ignition timing you were pulling?

2.9 pulley, ported lsj tb, zzp midlength/200cell cat, ottp 2.5 catback, dual pass and option b, zzp s3 heat exchanger, 60lb injectors, homemade cai.. I was running about 16 lbs of boost if memory serves me right, can't say for sure on the timing I would have to look but my laptop with all my logs and tunes died on me.
Although there has been quite a bit of speculation that they used weaker rods in the 08 l61 than the earlier ones, I know of a couple people running a very similar setup with zero problems
