Cut out
Cut out
So i want a new sounding exhaust or something thats different ive been thinking of getting a cut out but ive heard its pointless if your not f/i is this true if so what about straight pipe to the side near the back of my side skirt always wanted that i think it looks different and im all up for different please help!!!!
if you want a rediculously stupid loud car, then go with a straight pipe. it will sound horrible too. it sounds bad on v8s even. not a great idea. youre probably gonna want at least a muffler if not a resonator too
by the way, do you have your stock wingless trunk??

no, you could have any exhaust shop weld a side exit exhaust to your stock downpipe. i mean, it would be pretty pointless for a 2.2 non turbo to have a cutout or an sc car for that matter. unless you just want to **** people off.
and do you have your stock trunk lid??

yeah. i think so. ive got the one thats almost a purple color. not the light blue. im not sure of the exact paint names lol but thanks man. ive been waiting a while. now i have resorted to straight up asking people. pretty desperate eh? lol
I know this is a bit old....but.
I picked up 9whp and 14wtq, dyno proven, with my cut-out (installed where cat normally is) vs. my 2.25in cat back exhaust to a borla straight through muffler. Header is an ebay gold 4-1
This is on my sunfire mind you, and also had full bolt on's and cams. I also have a QTP cut-out plate so I can open the exhaust at the push of a switch.
Regardless it will make power on a stock car. Open header will ALWAYS make more power than a full exhaust, so long as you allow for enough pipe lenght after the collector.
To those that are going to bitch about low end power loss, the open cut-out made more HP and TQ from 2000rpm to redline.
Old school V8 guys have been doing this for 50 years....it obviously works.
Sometimes, people on forums like to voice their opinions and state them as facts....those people are ussually wrong

Scuse my noob question but where does a cut-out start from or just what is it? I dont talk english so often about cars so the help would be appreciated
A cut-out is just a Y pipe, one end hooks up your exhaust, the other goes to atmosphere, its usually capped with a plate or an electric plate.
Google it, its very basic. Just allows you to switch between open header and full exhaust.
He can run anything he wants for exhaust. This is really a mod for people who drag race alot, unless you street race alot (which is dumb) there is no real need to be able to get 10 extra hp with the flick of a switch.

my car is mufflerless as well as my truck
my car has a turbo on it 2 catalytic converters and a resonator but no muffler
my truck is currently 4" straight going to 5" straight but keeping a muffler handy just in case
