gibsonj4's LT/SC Detailed Build Thread

Gibsonj4's Detailed LT/SC Build Thread

The goal of this thread will be to detail the parts, prices, sources and installation of the kit on my car. I want to make this as detailed as possible so others who are wishing to do the same to their cars can have a detailed guide to read. This will not be a "quick" thread as I am still in the process of gathering parts but hopefully it will be helpful to others who are just simply wanting a fun DD and weekend auto-x/strip car. Parts I have yet to purchase, I either A) Got the Price from GM Parts Direct 2) Estimated The Going Rate.
Now, I know I will get "this can be done cheaper" but I like to have some things new and KNOW that I am getting the right/quality stuff so keep that in mind. I am not attempting to do this "as cheap as possible." If you want to buy a cheap used kit, not judging you just not for me

Yes, I stole this list from Gene on here. I simply looked up the sources and prices for the given parts. Obviously, you don't have to buy these exact parts of these are the bare essentials to supercharge the 2.2. Luckily, the blower I bought has a modular pulley system and 2.9 pulley. You can pick any pulley (given your you have forged internals and supporting mods) but I am not going lower than a 2.9 for now. I plan on building a motor this spring and swapping the blower if I like the setup.

Here is Gene's build thread:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l...-build-166563/

Also here are all the builds:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l...thread-208355/

I suggest reading through these and seeing if it's something you want to do yourself or buy kit from ZZP that is more expensive but already put together.

Bump still in search of the above parts. Also, can I run a stock h/e with a 2.9 pulley or should I go ahead and just gt the zzp h/e?

You might as well go with zzp. Almost everyone that does the sc build gets bored and mods more

You should also look at upgrading your internals too

I intend to mod more and as I stated I will be building a motor in the spring and upgrading the clutch soon after/during my install of the blower. Why would I buy the zzp kit when I could spend 800-1000 less for same/better results?

It's up to you.
The ZZP kit is there to make everything easy.

You can, of course, source everything yourself with a little more effort and time and save money.

I agree it's easier but "easy" usually comes at a price. For 1000 bucks I could easily buy a used LAP motor and rods this spring. To me it's not worth it to spend that much on the zzp kit.

Not knocking anyone who buys that kit it just doesn't make sense to me versus piecing the kit together in a relatively short time frame.

correct me if i'm wrong here, but you did ask about the stock h/e vs. the zzp h/e, no? ...at least thats what i thought the question was when i agreed with him on going with zzp - i meant go with the zzp h/e, not stock...

i didnt, and i wouldnt, buy the kit...

Well, received some parts today from purchases. Thanks to Kendall (LaserBlueSS) for the m62! Was willing to go out of the way to ship it to me even before I paid so I could check it out but I couldn't let him do that! Highly recommend him as a seller:

I'm pretty sure I have all of those...

Also I may have some more things, I just did a turbo swap and have basically a complete LSJ take off minus the SC/TB/Intake which I think you already have. Let me know what you need.
