Lightweight Crank Pulley
Is something that would be a good mod for my 2.2? Anyone have this specific one or any experiences? Is it crazy hard to install? I'm rather mechanically inclined.

And what about an alternator pulley?

Underdrive pulleys are bad for the Ecotec motors. It all comes down to balance. The stock "pulley" is more than just a pulley... its a harmonic balancer. It dampens and smooths out the harmonics, or vibrations, that the engine produces as it's running. Allowing these harmonics and vibrations to go uncontrolled WILL damage your engine.
All Ecotecs are Internally Balanced (Crank, Rods, Pistons), but the flywheel needs a harmonic balancer on the other end. And the lighter the flywheel, the heavier the other end needs to be. Best to leave it alone or go with the ATI Harmonic Balancer. GM Racing found this out the hard way when they were testing and developing the Cobalt Race Teams.

Alright, thanks for the info guys. - Any other mods I could do that are relatively easy? I'm not looking for insane horsepower or taking it to the track, just a little get up and go.

Ohh okay fine, css wins. It was just my 2 cents, since ive seen a few threads about how this **** **** up. and i have a crank pully here from a year ago, and when i posted something about puttn it on, css went crazy and said NOOO.
you really can't even go by hearsay on this forum anymore because the majority is age is 16-19 and we all know how much knowledge they consist of
-putting **** on incorrectly
-blatantly lying because they think it's cool?
-beating the **** out of their cars
there is only a few members that I take advice from, others I take with a grain of salt..

So I guess i'm leaning back towards a crank pulley/alt pulley! haha anyone have experience with the MRZPerformance ones? are there others that I'm not aware of?
I get my info on this from an insider. You can either listen to it... or not. Your choice. But he was very instrumental in the development of the Race Teams and the Time Attack Car. They nuked a couple motor in that development... the only thing that changed to prevent the motors from failing was the Harmonic Balancer/lightweight flywheel combo. See my first post in this thread.
flywheel and crank has 100000km+
alternator is 80000km.
flywheel is a too hard to me to install
crank is a good job.
alternator is easy. the belt is hard to removed .
False. The stock Harmonic Balancer should only be replaced with ANOTHER Harmonic Balancer.
High RPM's are what will cause the most stress... that's when the most vibrations will be present. If all you ever do is putt around... you probably won't run into any problem soon. There is no time table for when your motor will tear itself apart. But I guarantee you that you ARE damaging your motor. The vibrations WILL harm things.
