Muffler fitment

I have 2.25" cat back piping, is it possible to connect a muffler with a 4" inlet to the 2.25" piping? The exhaust shop can just use like a reducer right? Will it effect exhaust flow?

Unless your diesel on 60psi, there is no need for a 4" muffler.

Well the muffler I want, the only way to get a 4" tip is if I get the model with the 4" inlet.... I can get a 2.25 inlet but then the tip is only 3".
