muffler tip ideas
Ok just got a magnaflow muffler added to my car today which i must say i like and tip i have on there makes my car look tacky what would be some good tips to have re welded to it?
Honestly, here's what I would do. But make your own call.
1) Try to get either a stock SS or a GMPP catback tip. The SS is single wall, the GMPP is double wall. If those are too costly, go to Pep Boys, etc and get one of their "good" tips. And if it's one of those ones with 3 bolts, get it re-welded if you can. The bolts will eventually rattle. Clamp is best next to weld.
2) Then, go to the store and buy some high-temp flat black spray-paint. This could also be grill paint (the kind you cook on outside). Spray the entire muffler canister and extension tubing with it. It'll make it blend in way better. Personally, I can't stand the burnt, unfinished metal look.
I think you'll be happy with the results. I would also consider some smaller rubber hangers, or try to heat and bent the metal ones. From that angle, the muffler looks a little angled down.

For how quickly and easily it went together with the fact its stainless steel and looks nearly stock when walking around the vehicle I have no complaints. I did consider welding it but honestly it doesnt leak at all and you cant see all the clamps. Plus 400 shipped for a full stainless steel exhaust is good enough for me! Besides at least the clamps are good quality and not garbage!
if you cant see them why bother? the clamps make it that much easier to remove/ install/ modify. you could easily swap a straight pipe on there when u want to. the only thing that matters on an exhaust look wise is the part you see (tips) and weather or not it corrodes.
Summit Racing has there own brand of muffler tips and are very reasonable in price, look great and are Highly polished stainless steel. Here is the one on my Magnaflow catback it cost $39.
