nhanson's S/C build

So this is a little early but want to clear up questions before i actually need to install. Also will be slowly buying parts over winter.

Think I'm going to skip straight to 60 lbers and a 2.9 pulley. Knowing this, will/should i do dual pass and option B right away? Ill be using ZZPs S3 heat exchanger without the stock heat exchanger.

Does it matter what intercooler pump I get? i noticed Gene had the ford racing so is that one better?

Probably will skip buying rims, tires, and drop just to get this done. Sleeper style

60s and 2.9 is perfect for a 2.2. stenguyen here made 255whp with that combo. I would do dual pass option B right away for the simple fact that Opt. B bleeds so much faster than the stock LSJ coolant setup. ZZP S3 H/E is also the best H/E you can get short of a griffin. All good stuff.

The ford racing pump is the exact same pump the cobalt uses by default. It is in fact a ford part.

Sleeper ftw!

Yeah the GM one is not a cast piece or anything special. They make theirs the same way all the vendors make them: Drill a hole, add a fitting, make sure there are no clearance issues, and make sure it doesnt leak.

I'd get one for the lowest price you can find. ZZP is a good place to get one. ItalianJoe1 here on ss.net made mine.

LSJ SC Coolant Reservoir
LSJ SC Coolant Reservoir Cap
LSJ SC Coolant Reservoir Bracket
LSJ SC Coolant Reservoir Overflow Hose
LSJ SC Coolant Reservoir Inlet To Top Intake Manifold End Plate Hose
LSJ Bottom Intake Manifold End Plate To Intercooler Pump Outlet Hose

are these items replaced with option B?

so if i started with option B these wouldnt be needed?

How do you run the stock map? That is 1bar. Wouldn't you at least need a 2bar sensor? The rewire to the 2.5bar with IAT is *****. It has helped tuning a lot.

I am not sure, but if you ran the stock setup it takes a little bit of driving to bleed all the air out. After that though, you should not need to add any more coolant. I had to drive a few minutes to burp the air. I just checked the other day and after a month it is still full. Oddly with dual pass and a phenolic spacer my temps are almost always 30 degress above ambient. Others say it reads around 10+. I don't have before and after though since I installed the TMAP at the same time to help with tuning.

you can run your stock map anytime. vince just has less tables to look at to tune it which isn't that great.

using the lsj 2 bar map is the best way cuz it gives him more tables to look at to dial in your tune much better and see iat2. I have a lsj map on my car and i see aroun 69 degrees cruising and after a wot pull i see 100 to 110 degrees max. as long as you run a good coolant mix and have your pump working you can see a big difference in cooling.

Dual pass I would do now that way you don't have to rip everything out to change the endplate
