sc build with no power
Ok so here is whats going on, we completed a SC build on a friends LAP cobalt. We go to connect the negative back onto the battery but we get an arc+heat causing the wire connector touching the battery terminal to melt. So we troubleshoot some possibilities but none are it. We cant figure out what it could be, we didn't touch the starter or any other power wires. So after trying what we thought it could possibly be, we then put the negative connector on battery again but this time we got no arc or heat but we now don't have power to anything, no dome light, no trunk light, no ding when keys are in ignition, no accessories, no nothing... then we remove the terminal off the battery, and after 20+ minutes we reconnect the terminal to experience an arc and heat. I can't think of what is causing this.... What do yall think it could be.

troubleshooting has continued... Seems the intake manifold is rubbing on presumably the starter wire. I can't really tell where it is rubbing. Will this possible solution work? Cutting radiator hose in half and putting it on top of the starter work? I know that sounds ghetto as hell but I can't think of anything else.

did you try a different battery just for kicks? i'm thinking your starter power wire is on the intake manifold... mine was and i had to shave some of it off and angle it differently to fit with clearance...
hopefully you didn't burn a hole through in the intake manifold...

yeah I rerouted the alternator wires under the ac lines so thats good, as for those 2 wires coming off the starter, I rotated the one going to the alternator to give clearance. Then I got the stock radiator hose cut it to split it and covered the lines. So then I recharge the battery, by jumping it with my car. I reconnect the battery to the car and no more arc or heating up. So continue to successfully install the new tune for the engine and transmission. Once its done, we crank the car and then at the same time I see smoke coming from my battery which is still connected to my friends battery. I quickly remove the cables, and my friends car is dead yet again. Now I reconnect the jump cables back to my car, then connect his positive and when I connect the negative it starts to arc and heat up again. I'm assuming that the hose came off the starter but it doesn't look like it did.

yeah they are connected properly... I find it very odd for it not to arc while installing the tune, and then all of a sudden arc when turning the car on, and it didn't even turn on. It would just sit there and crank.

ok so we removed the I.M. again, and it looks like the wrap from one of the wires got cut off and was rubbing on the starter. So that is fixed, and now the car will not start. We crank it, and it tries to stay on but dies. I've checked codes, and the only one we get is P0443 which is the purge solenoid. Will that cause the car not to stay on?
