You can do anything you want to it. Cai, header, dp, exhaust, turbo, supercharger, engine swap, trade in. Any of those are options.

Trying to say, what are you trying to do? Goals? ect?

This, if you want real power and reliability you are gonnna need to trade in, if you are mechanically inclined and have spare time and money I would turbo it but the way you make it sound you would just want to do simple mods. If you are looking for a cheap daily driver that is kinda fun the just do the bolt ons and just know your car is slow but it makes you happy.

Then don't trade in, you will have some huge ass car payments. Just work with what you have.

What is your goal with the car?
Do you auto cross?
Do you go to the drag strip?
Do you go to a road race course?
Or do you just drive it on the road?

You could try to sell privately. But if you don't have money for a down payment, then you're screwed.

my main goal is to have something with a little more acceleration. i do autocross(nothing to big, just me and some friends from college) and i use to to commute to work and class(its about 100 miles away one way) im really just looking for something fun to drive. right now its pretty boring.

100 mile one way commute? $11,000 in debt on a cobalt?

best advice i have is to learn to enjoy the cobalt as it is, you're not upgrading or going anywhere quickly in anything fast or fun until you're ready to trade in that cobalt and get a new car

wow 100 miles. dude the best mod you could ever do driving that far is the tunes! get you a really good sound system man. get some subs and a good mp3 setup. that is what i did and it made me like my base balt alot more. but i would tell you to throw a turbo on it but with 100 miles you would just burn the car up. just put a cai in it and call it good. but the tunes mod will be your best frind.

I dont understand why ppl call it slow.... IMO!! im talking about the LS base model here, its cheap for the power it has!! And its one of the fastest in its class !!

I paid my brand new cobalt LS 15 000 $ and im faster then a 22 000$ civic... or a corolla or focus or lancer and im talking about all 2010 base models !!!

Sorry but for the price WE ROCK! And a cobalt is so cheap to modify not like civic but more cheap compared to manny other cars...

It had to come out sorry

your argument is valid because cobalts are good based on PRICE. I paid $12k out the door for mine brand new.

As far as performance goes, its not a performance vehicle, its an economy vehicle. it was never built for power or "fun"

The SS is a different story, but for a base model cobalt its not going to be a performance vehicle

You can drive it to school and learn how to speak some gooder English.

No but seriously, you picked a not-so-good car for performance unless you decide to get the SC kit for then it'll be meh.

For the Love of God, DO Not mod this car.Take whatever extra money you have and pay it down,it will never be fast without spending half of what you owe on it.Then buy a faster car that you don't have to put a **** ton of miles on after it's paid off.

Coming from past experience... I had a 2007 Pontiac G5 that I bought brand new... less than 2 years of owning the vehicle, traded it in for a 2010 Cobalt SS and was upside down $1500... which became my down payment and now I get to restart my loan (with 0% interest this time) which is $10K higher than my previous one for the G5.

Lessons learned:
1. Research before you buy a car! I bought the G5 in 2008... The Cobalt SS/TC came out in 2008 /facepalm
2. Cobalt/G5 have HORRIBLE resale value
3. If you get an SS, make sure you're getting it for the performance of the car and not the quality of the car
4. The base G5/Cobalt wasn't that slow... (then again, mine was 5 speed. User shift points > computerized shift points)
5. Your first mod. Remove the 'LS' and the 'C' from Cobalt that is on the back of the trunk and re-arrange it to say SLOBALT
6. Have a sense of humor since this is the Interwebz (Thought I might mention this even though it should be obvious. Better safe than sorry )
