$30 Intake
$30 Intake
Here's a intake us 2.2 guys have been buzzing about and it should also fit the 2.4 http://www.advancedjdmparts.com/prod...roductid=19767
It's the same one they use to sell on ebay, the guy closed his ebay store and told someone were he was getting them. I have one on my 2.2 and if you search ebay intake in 2.2 you'll find pics.
Ok here it is on Preston's car

500+ for an intake? where are you seeing that?
i think this is a situation that comes down to you get what you pay for. any halfway decent filter is going to cost more than $30 by itself. so to get a full intake for that price, just seems weird. and i know i wouldn't want to skimp out on a part that protects things from getting into the engine.

I'll take a good look at the new cheapo filter and if I decide I don't like it, I'llswap it for the Injen
It's already been discussed before. The pipe is just the same as any other manufactors however you don't get it to be as pretty with the sticker.
The filter was recommended to be swapped out for a dry-flow filter with some sort of waterlock protection. Wether thats the AEM BY-pass Valve or an INjen Hydroshield... either would have been fine.
A lot of us don't care how it looks as long as it works, because a lot of us enjoy the power gains, but never plan to pop the hood at a car show or to "flaunt" to others about our incredibly small motor.

Well I also show my car in NCCA judged car shows. Judges like AEM, Injen, K&N, Fujita, etc etc. Judges don't like no name ebay stuff. When they come up to you at judging time with a clipboard and ask you what you have done to your car, and then ask "so, what kind of intake is that" and your response is "I dunno, its just a $30 intake I picked up off of ebay"........yeah, fail. Also, like someone mentioned, the filters included with these $30 intakes are very questionable. A decent filter usually goes for that much alone.

have any of the 2.2 guys dynoed with the intake? i want to see if it produces numbers....hp gain>brand name.....seriously if you guys are iffy about the price of the intake because its too cheap how much is the factory intake?...if someone can give me numbers from this intake to see what kind of gains you get that would be nice oh and if the intake doesnt work then all you spent was 30.00 not bad either way you look at it
ok wow all of the intakes on th emarket are essentially the same...just some aluminum piping with a cuople of silicone connectors..only difference really is the filter...when u buy names like injen fujita k&n your just apying for a name...and really for us guys with the 2.2l's who cares about the name..were not actually tryin to make our cars super fast nor do we try to hang with the supercharged guys so why should we pay more for our intake?
lol end rant

ok im the one that was told where to get em at and as far as hp gains on the 2.2 if there is any its not noticable.. the throttle response is better though.. you 2.4 guys could probley get more out of it than us 2.2 guys.. as far as fitment goes mine fits perfectly and dont rub on anything and it sounds great..
and the reason for usin a hydro shield is cuz it moves the filter down into the bumper under the headlight..
