2.0 Supercharger fitment on 2.4?

on ebay there are auctions for stock eaton 2.0 superchargers for around 500.there is even a buy it now as we speak for a 2.0.On a past auction that ended within the past couple days, the description of the auction said the 2.0 supercharger would fit the 2.0 AND 2.2.I had read a thread that said the 2.2L engine and 2.4L engine design is the exact same thing, that is why the same intake will fit on a 2.2 as well as a 2.4.My question is if it is true that the 2.2 and 2.4 is the same engine design, will the supercharger fit on the 2.4L?i ask this because the auction states it fits both the 2.0 and 2.2.

If the 2.0 intake manifold/intercooler setup will bolt on, I don't see why it wouldn't work on the physical side. The problem is getting a proper sized pulley and tuning.

The 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 all share the same block butthe cylinders are sleved down for the 2.2 and 2.0. If you got all the correct parts you could put supercharger on the 2.4 but you would have to lower your engines compression which would require pistons. You probably would want the conecting rods from the 2.0 as well and many other parts like the aftercooler and oil cooler (not sure if 2.4 has this?) so it would be a very pricey job and tuning would be a bitch.

Do you have any idea what your talking about??

What the hell does the Block have to do with it? The only thing that matters is weather or not the intake manifold for the 2.0 will bolt on the 2.4 head. If the cylinder heads are the same, you can do it. You just going to need to find a way to tune it and get everything working right. Your going to need to all the plumbing for the aftercooler and all the vacuum lines and **** like that. You will need to move your battery to the trunk. Use a 2.0 fuel rail and injectors. parts of the 2.0 wiring harness are going to need to be put in there because I am guessing the TB's are different and the sensors on it probably are as well. There will be a bunch more little things your going to need to do as well. I don't think it will be worth it really.

Personally, I think the best bet for doing a 2.4 SC would be to put a 2.4 block in an SS/SC. That way you don't have to touch the wiring or the head or anything like that.

The displacement difference isn't due to bore, it's due to different crankshafts (different stroke). Why do you think you can put 2.2 Pistons in a 2.0 ecotec? If it was a different bore, there is no way in hell you could fit them due to the width (if this was true).

Lowering the compression ISN'T necessary. Lowering the compression is more of a pre-cautious thing to help prevent detonation...but isn't something that is a must do.

The one part you got correct is tuning might be an issue. Because of the lack of having a computer that can read boost, he's going to have to find a way to supply fuel and also upgrade critical parts of your fuel system to meet the demand.

That's going to be a job as well.

Well since he doesn't own a SS/SC, you're suggesting he does:

1. Buy a SS/SC and replace the block

or

2. Buy a 2.0 SS/SC motor, replace the block and swap it in.

Both sound kind of a pain in the ass jobs to do just to have a supercharger. I'm sure if he could possibly afford an ss/sc he would have gotten one and swapping a motor in like the 2.0 is going to be more of a pain because of the wiring and just the overall work.

I wasn't suggesting that he do it. I was stating in general, if anyone wanted to try the 2.4 SC, the easiest way to achieve that would be to put the 2.4 block in an SS/SC

FYI: All cobalt batteries (to my present knowledge) are in the trunk already.

just wait for a turbo or supercharger system ro come out for the 2.4 it will, in the long run, be cheaper and much easier.

Better possibilities. "There is no replacement for displacement" You would have to reduce the compression to push any serious boost though. But that applies to any forced induction motor.
