2.4 Highway mileage

On the way back from St Albert today I reset the fuel economy guage to see what I would get---drving totally on the highway.

Going 120km/h--75mph I got 7.2L per 100kms or 32.6 US MPG or 39.2 CDN MPG.

Not bad at that speed. Early on in the trip I was going about 60-65mph and it was down to:

6.4L per 100kms or 36.7 US MPG or 44.1 CDN MPG. Thats almost exactly what Transport Canada rates it at. No a/c--was not hot enough

Sure would like a nice deep 6th gear--about 3000rpm at 75mph.

werid. On the cruise up me and the other 2.4 were easily beating the 2.0 S/C cars---they were mad!

18,XXX kms on the car now---that about 11K miles

hmmm... i think that i do in the low 30s at 75 in mine, but bear in mind, it's summer in florida with super wet air... would prolly be better in a real state.

if i'm at like 45-50 i'll get damn near 40mpg, so i think a mid-high 30s 70-75 should well be doable. if i had to take a long trip i'd wax it fresh, and add 5psi to the tires... yeah, bet i could do it.

on a full tank of gas with Castrol Syntec and regular gas I would get 250miles per tank, now with Royal Purple and regular gas I get 320 miles per tank thats if I don't drive with the pedal to the metal lol. I would say I do 60% highway and 40% street driving.

Yeah at 70 I'm like at 31 or 32. I expected more; my old Beretta 3.1 automatic got better than that even at 300,000 miles on it.

I usually get between 350-370 miles to a tank. I drive about 50/50 hwy&city and this is spirited driving. At 70 mph I am usually getting 34-35 and at 80 mph I get around 30-31. If I am driving mainly city it drops to around 27-28.

I haven't really had my 2.4 on the highway yet, I'll be going on a 200+ mile trip this weekend, we'll see how it goes.

Damn, that's horrible. The lowest I ever got was about 25 mpg and that was basically flooring it everywhere I went.

Wow, That's F'd up man. I had a goat with an auto that got 15mpg.

My 2.4 auto gets 28-29 mpg commuting (1/2 city, 1/2 hwy) after my Wester's tune.

I think you should take it in to the dealer to get the A/F ratio checked.

Your MAF must be screwed or something. I think pig rich is probably an understatement - how about Hippo rich. How's your power? Maybe your cat is breaking down.

Sorry, man. Sounds like a warranty problem.

no I pretty much beat the ever living ***** out of my car. It also doesn't help that I never reset the DIC.....I achieved that 24.9 doing about 85mph - 105 mph for over 80 miles on the NJ turnpike. As for the cat, I don't have the notorious egg smell or anything of that sort, I just drive it hard....lol

When driven conservatively, we have gotten the GTO up to 28mpg, but normal "spirited" driving get about 19mpg - 22mpg

EDIT: Stop calling me man, man....lol I don't have that extra appendage ....haha

Pardon, mam.

You must really beat the crap out of it.

I hope you don't treat your men like that.

Though sometimes I like to be ridden hard and put up wet...but I digress...

Alas I'm married....
