So I am wondering will you gain much (hp or mpg) buy getting an ignition booster/better spark plugs/wires/etc. etc.? If you are getting a more complete burn then wouldn't that change the A/F ratio slightly?

Next to nothing.

The COP ingnition on these cars are pretty good, and think if you go a HOTTER range it would cause some knock.

Get HPTuners and turn some timing up a little and go by that.
