Aftermarket Exhaust on auto 2.4
Hey guys.
I was just wondering how many of you 2.4 guys put on an aftermarket exhaust. I have a few questions for ya...
1. What brand did you buy? How much was it?
2. Sound quality?
3. Loudness at highway cruising?
4. And does it sound gay when it shifts?
I know a handfull of guys at my school that have autos with aftermarket exhausts that sound terrible when the car is driving. I don't want that. lol.
Thanks guys!

I'm going to put a full aftermarket system (header, custom down pipe with high-flow cat, and cat back exhaust) on my 2.4 auto soon and will report on the sound.

Drive it in the position between "D" and "L" (is that "i"? - I can't remember). That gives you a shift profile that's definitely more agressive than the smooth shifting "D". It will sound a lot better (plus it's more functional for performance driving).

it's absolutely NOT better for performance driving, i don't know where you're getting that from... "I" setting is 3rd gear, and will change to 4th gear at redline... if you're starting below the optimal speed for third gear than it's a hell of a lot worse than leaving it in D
"I" is designed to use the lowest gear possible while shifting, while the "D" is an overdrive and will use the highest gear possible. Try out both gears from a dig and I think you'll find that "I" lets a bit more juice out of the powertrain.
I'm just wondering what you are validating that contradiction with.

Universal Magnaflow- $159 installed
Sounded GREAT before I added an intake
With just the muffler, the car was not loud at all at highway speeds.
It still sounds good, but I liked the sound a lot better with the stock intake. I am actually thinking about selling the injen intake because I miss how it sounded with just the muffler.

That kinda sucks then... I'm nuying an Injen in a few months. lol. Any sound clips? Does it sound BAD wit hthe intake? Or just alot louder? I was kinda considering the universal muffler route, but I've heard good things about catbacks...

I have the GMPP touring on my 2.4 auto. It Has a nice deep tone. At highway speed you can barely here it inside the car. I think it sounds quite manly until it shifts into overdrive, then its not too impressive. I'm very happy with it.

4. Uhh....I've never known an exhaust wanting to slide something into my bunghole when I shift but uhh... The answer would be no.

Anything better than stock, so I chose the unique design ARK N2 from ARK Performance. The quality and fitting is awsome.
Ebay has a better price
1. 609.00 +S/H
2. Deep / strong
3. Works NP / Silencer included
4. Check yourself. http://www.arkperformanceusa.com/pho...ry.php?cat=505

Will anything happen from just getting a universal muffler installed instead of a full catback? That's all I did on my old Accord and it was nice. Plus, 150 is much better to my wallet than 600. Plus, I'd rather use that 500 for my Recaros...

All engines sound different. That's like saying "I'm putting a Mustang 5.0 exhaust on my Cobalt and it'll sound just like the 5.0."
Just kidding man. Put the knife down.
