anyone

does anyone know where i could find a decent transmission for a 2006 SS/NA? reason being is that the current one i have grinds from 1st to 2nd when i go above 3500RPM. i been told its the syncros or the clutch. any idea of fixes i could do? my budget is pretty limited right now.

thanks for the help

you can replace the syncro, well most likely not you but an experienced trans tech could. and its deff not the clutch but if you have high mileage you might as well replace that too. So just talk to a transmission shop about it

yeah i went to a trans shop and they said it would cost about 1200 to fix it... the car only has 68k on it and the trans maybe like 5 or 6k. it was rebuilt. ive heard that there is some kinda trans fluid that zzp offers i wanna say its called redline or something like that, that would help it. any knowledge on that?

Yeah redline transmission fluid, you could give it a shot. There's a how-to on a f23 transmission fluid change on here also.

But I would go back to the place that rebuilt it, the syncro should last way longer than that. If it was on its way out they should have caught the stress fracture(s) during the rebuild and replaced it.

What are you doing to your transmission that it needed rebuilt at a little over 60k miles and is now having problems again so soon?

Hell with GM don't even take it to the dealer under warranty. They'll think of some way to void the warranty and try to charge you

wouldnt that be part of the powertrain warranty?

i got my clutch warrantied at 30k or so (with a buttload of mods installed on my car) because my pressure plate failed (which is not a wear item, the clutch face is)

Clutch is a wear item and the tranny is rebuilt (didn't say if it was by GM or not)

i bought it with the rebuilt tranny in it from the dealer, it was rebuilt somewhere in MO. idk why it needed rebuilt in the first place and i havent raced it at all yet, it started having the problem a few months ago. i think im gonna try this syncromesh trans fluid first then replace the clutch and see if anything works.
