adding solid engine and tranny mounts would decrease drivetrain loss i think

on a side note..a auto 2.2 can not run even close to the 15s as show above..stock 2.4 auto runs high 15s and 5spd shud b low 15s and if a good driver..high 14s.

but if wanting to obviously break 200whp honestly full bolt ons, cams and tune will bring u well over 200whp, adding better internals..thats a different story

There was a guy on here with a 2.4, he had the JBP cams and full bult-ons and I think a little head work with something like 224WHP. He claimed that he could beat the new SS/TC but he got flamed for that claim. Needless to say, he hasn't been around since the flamage took place. So that will give you some high hopes for your build.

Jesus, about time someone mentioned his name. I'm reading this thread on my slow ass sidekick internet and I almost posted his name, but I want to make sure someone else hadn't mentioned him already.

But yeah, Justin, aka Cobeeezy, made 212whp all motor. And trust me when I say horsepower isn't everything, because I think his car is fully capable of running down a stock SS/TC. Last I heard though he was either gonna supercharge it or sell it.

But while we're on the timeslips discussion, I'd guesstimate my car would be good for a 14.6-14.7 where it stands assuming I had some halfway decent tires. I ran a 9.7 @ 75mph in the 1/8 last year before I was HP Tuners tuned, a clogged fuel filter, 14 DTC codes thrown and on my 19"s w/ shitty Nankang tires. So I'd probally pull a 9.4/9.5 in the 1/8 now.

well as of right now my only performance mod is an injen CAI... between birthday comin up (2 weeks) and xmas.. im going to save up and by spring im just going to do header, dp, exhaust. I deff wanna do GMPP Exhaust, probably zzp header/dp combo, but not 100% sure yet on that set-up. I am going to talk to some guys down in Toms River at Tune Time Performance. And see what they can do for me tune wise, and how they can help achieve my 200 WHP goal

plus i wanna get trannie mounts, and the lightweight pully so i can put some more whp an wtq down with those supporting mods

Word. I've got an AEM CAI, CA v1 header, XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe, ARK N2 ca-back, Ingalls engine torque damper and I'm HP Tuners tuned, so I feel I should be right around the 180-185whp mark.

Your no way gonna hit the 200whp mark with the mods you just named. Essentially, your planning on having a basic setup like I have right now....basic intake/exhaust bolt ons, some traction mods and a tune. Your gonna need cams or spray to hit 200whp.

Also, I have a set of brand new Prothane tranny mount bushings (front/rear) for sale for the 2.2/2.4 5-speeds. I got them last year, never got around to installing them and don't want them anymore. I'll sell them to you for $50 shipped.

Let us know what? Information we already know? Lol. Not trying to sound rude by any means, but I've had my Cobalt for 2 years, been on .net almost 2 years, hosted/attended countless meets, etc etc. There's nothing "new" one can really accomplish with the LE5 these days. Trust me, if there was a way to make over 200whp without cams, boost or spray, we woudlve known about it by now. "Full" bolt ons (I/H/DP/E) + a tune......a ported TB....even some head work....and your looking at 190whp max. Now throw some cams and a valvetrain into the mix and you'll be at where Cobeeezy has already been......210-220whp (he dynoed at 212whp).

My car was tuned by one of the best (Joe Rutledge aka Benny HHR) and I'm sure many tuners can vouch for me on that, like REDFOCZ, who often seeks advice from Joe, that my car is probally one of the most soundly and solidly tuned "full bolt on" 2.4SS's on the site. Now, I've never been to a dyno, but REDFOCZ has a very similar setup, and he's a great HP Tuners tuner as well, and he dynoed at 185whp I believe.

If your looking into getting 200whp with just bolt ons, a tune and even some headwork, its just not gonna happen.

You'll either wind up like me, or you'll end up camming it like Justin did.....or boosting/sparying it like many others have done to reach that 200whp+ mark.

Word. And no, its directed at anywho who has a pipe dream that they'll reach 200whp w/o cams or boost.

I didn't feel like reading every post in the thread b/c I'm on my slow ass phone's internet at work, so sorry if you feel that I jumped your ****.

But yeah, with cam's and a proper tune you'll be just over 200whp.....and with some more headwork you'll be where Cobeeezy is horsepower wise.

Good luck.

Also, the SRT-4 is stock while the Cobalt is getting cams.....why??

fyi...i pulled a 9.4 @ 79 on a still rich tune (stock pulley 2.4 s/c) with a 2.38 60ft.

it was pretty hot out too. and my i/c pump failed, lol. So a 9.4 can probably touch 13's with a perfect driver/launch

yeah i mean.. for now i wanna get fully bolted thats my goal.. then once fully bolted i might do cams and then get my tune down at tune time performance.. and get it dyno'd and hopefully i will berak into the 200's there is still other stuff i wanna do i.e springs, hids etc. so i have my b-day comin up and xmas so i will get a few stuff for that.. just plan on working my ass off all winter to save up for h/dp/e and puttin it all on at once.. ya feel me?

and another question.. i plan on doing the gmpp exhaust.. can i use a xtc 3'' dp with that setup?
