Build my 2.4L

Hey guys im still deciding on what I should get for performance upgrades on my 2.4L.
I would like to ask some guys with experiance what is the best to get for more power.

So, my budget is $1,000-$1,200.

Please tell me what you would buy with that budget.
And if you could list how much it will gain for me.

Such as.
-CAI
-Exhaust
-Header
-DP
-Tune
-Other, etc. (list specifics)

So, just pick the few things in order you would buy in my situation with my budget.
Thanks!

You should def get the CAI and I went with the GMPP performance exhaust and Im very happy with it. after that I went tune. I will be retuning for 93 octaine soon. Then go with the ZZP header dp combo with high flow cat if you want to keep it in admissions. all them with a tune will be a good start.

Start simple.

Intake: AEM, Injen, K&N or GMPP. Prices typically around $250.
Cat-back: Megan Racing, ARK, GMPP, Magnaflow, Corsa, etc. Prices range from $350-$700.
Engine torque damper: Ingalls, Weapon-R, Torque Forward. Prices all around $125.

Then if you have some extra cash, invest in a header (CA or ZZP are best for a 2.4 IMO) and a downpipe to complete your exhaust. I'd actually advise you do all your exhaust components all at once b/c its much easier to do the install all at once than in pieces.

K&N Typhoon and AIS Stage 2 trunk mount.... bolts on in a couple hours, probably nets 30 HP.... easy install /removal. No warranty issues and you can run cheap gas. Go for it!

GMPP dont make headers or dps for our cars yet ZZP and CA do.

Go to Crateenginedepot.com and you can get the exhaust

For an exhaust system, ill give some examples:

Mild setup (not too obnoxiously loud and illegal): GMPP extrude honed manifold, XTC 2.5" downpipe w/ high flow cat, GMPP touring cat-back. It'll be loud enough to know its there, but quiet enough and stock looking enough to keep you under the radar.

Wild setup: CA header, XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe, ARK N2 cat-back. My setup. Its loud to the point you can't think, every piece of interior plastic will vibrate, and cops will hassle you for the massive angled canister hanging out the ass of your car. I love my exhaust setup

yeah, but me not having a cat really makes it obnoxious sounding.....

Plus, the ARK N2 is about as loud as a cat-back can be on a Cobalt, lol.

I checked it out. It dosent really give a great description of the actual kit though......or how to install it. Looks complicated.

Eh, the actual concept of the install is not hard. The hardest part would be getting the tubes in where you want them. But I would just follow where the battery cables went. I couldn't imagine more than a 3 hour install.
