CA stainless steel header V2

I was just wondering if anyone has the new CA header yet. Is there any difference between the new and old ones(besides the new one being shinier), and any difference in power gains? I was thinking of replacing the stock manifold within the next month. Also would anyone that has one recommend the gm extrude honed manifold?

As far as I knew, they only difference between the two is that v2 will fit on the 2.2 without modification. You gains depend on your other mods... I wouldn't expect more than 10HP at the crank for either.

It has a 3" collector as opposed to a 2.25" on the v1.

wow 3" collector. that sounds like it would be great for F/I but for N/A...sounds like it might create too much loss of back pressure.

Just size it down with a 2.5" DP. Then you leave room for boost later if you're N/A.

i mite do vs2 header but a 3" collector honestly guys isnt really needed for a n/a motor..much better for a s/c or t/c cobalt imo. stick with vs1 header and a 2.5 dp...thats wud ill be doing once i get my big bonus in from work..

People seem to be doing well with the ZZP header. It's a 3" collector on both versions apparently... Besides, why bottleneck at a 2.25" collector into a 2.5" DP?

Well 2.25 will net better low end tq then the 3", the gains up top you'd get from the 3" might not be enough to sacrafice down low. The 2.25 was the reason they dyno'ed the nice tq gain on the 2.4.

I honestly can't see how increasing the size of the collector would be a drawback. Then why redesign it? The entire point of expanding your exhaust is to reduce your backpressure and make it more free flowing, at least until extreme points. As long as you keep the DP 2.5" this should be beneficial imo. I'd like to see a dyno comparison between the two.

I'll probably go with the v1 header and 2.5 high flow cat downpipe combo since my warranty is already up. The 3" seems like overkill for the N/A, and i doubt i'll be boosted any time soon. I think the high end gain wouldn't be that much more, since it's N/A, it may not be worth that loss in low end tq. But yea i'm with you guys, i'd really like to see a dyno comparison between the two. That would help a lot of people with making their choices rather than trying to guess at what the gain difference would be. That new one sure does look purdy though .

It was origanlly dsigned with a 3" collector but they got the wrong sized flanges so they went ahead with it. it was designed for the ss/sc hence the 1.7" primaries and 3" collector. With a 2.5 downpipe you prolly wouldn't notice it that much but still a 2.5" collector and 2.5 downpipe would mate up and flow better.

I agree completely, but good luck finding a header with a 2.5" collector. The only one I've found is the Vibrant and its a 4-2-1 step long racing header, not particularly my cup of tea. Plus there's not even an option for ceramic coating.

Yeah i know there's not a lot on the market since most are designed for the ss/sc. But i believe clear images 4-2-1 is a 2.5 along with ceramic coating, as thats the route i plan on going.
