CAI in winter

I have an Injen CAI on my 2.4, and I'm wondering if i should be taking it out for the winter. I would say our average temps in winter are around -20 celcius. But of course we do get our cold snaps of -40. What, if any, kind of issues might I have if i leave it on? It's not a dry flow, so could the oil possibly freeze up on me?

I live in MN so even if the temps don't get that cold, they get way way below freezing. I keep my injen on all winter. Never had a problem. you should be fine. What is the difference between -20 and -10, probably nothing.

Wow, thanks captain obvious, I'm not worried about the piping freezing up on me. I mentioned the filter was not dry flow. It's oiled. I asked if the oiled filter itself would somewhat freeze up under really low temps.

Cold, gummy oil. doesn't lubricate your motor properly. Among other things.

You will be just fine leaving the oiled filter on all winter long.........Its no different than having a drop in filter that is oiled (k&N).....i have never had a problem with these filters in winter and have always had them on my vehicles from day 1.....Even last winter here when it got to -45 without windchill the car ran fine......So i wouldnt worry man......Later

You could look at buying the hydro cover for your intake filter

Buca... you can leave it on for the winter. I drove all last winter with mine in, and had no problems at all.
It's the spring that worries me... all that slushy junk on the streets.

Talkin about the CAI in winter.. Well abviously you would get all that road salt underneath you car and I am one of those persons that do the undercarriage wash on my car when I go through the carwash, woudn't I get water into my CAI and cause some damage, or have the CEL come on? Anybody deals with this problem? This would be my first winter with a CAI on my balt.
