As a former '98 Sunfire GT owner, I've got a lot of respect for what GM did with both the SS/NA and GT models of our cars. Good to see them do well in this test group!

Surprised to not see the Sentra SE-R Spec V on that list. I guess it is over $20K...I always thought it was under.

i said this in the other thread that i started about this article, but ill say it here also so everoyne sees it... I think it is important to notice that instead of just badmouthing everything they possibly could on the american cars, in this article they badmouthed all the negatives about ALL OF THE CARS including the honda and in this situation two american cars prevail by quite a bit. Pretty interesting stuff and we should all be proud. LOL btw thank god the srt-4 isn't still in production it would have been JUST in this price rang and DESTROYED all of us LMAO.

nice find man! I always pick on my girlfriend b/c she has a Tiburon SE V6 6-speed (basically like the GT in the list, but with a 6-speed instead of a 5-speed + painted calipers, nicer interior/stereo and a slightly larger rear spoiler).....7th on the list..... which has a 2.7 V6.......and my 2.4 FOUR CYLINDER is faster! lol. Owell, I still like her car and what we've done to it!

funny what they said about the 2.4 AUTO, they should have tried "L" and "I" out, lol my neighbor has a 2.4 SS coupe 5-speed and our 2.4 Sedan auto will outrun it. hahaha

I dont have a cobalt yet i was thinking about getting a Cobalt SS 2.4 auto. what do you mean L and I. Do you mean switch all the way to 1st gear and then go to 2nd and then to D like if you was driving a stick?

I think thats what they said. 4cly NA and autos have never been great together but the 2.4L is nota bad match at all. Ideally a 6 speed auto would be best.

Only reason you can beat your neighbors 5 speed---is he can't drive. 5 speeds own the automatics.

All you need is a tune and that goes the other way! Mine pulls to 7grand and shifts harder and faster then a manual EVAR could.

doesn't really matter what it revs to---if its way past peak hp. My 5 speed revved to 7200rpm and that did not make it faster. Ever has no "A" in it btw

Oh good grief! The tune takes care of that.

Not that I know of but if you can find a shop to do it I'll send you a copy of the tune file for them to base it of of. Yo uneed to have it adjusted for your car in your area so you have no CEL's come on. I'm tellin ya man, the 2.0 injector swap and tune are an awesome mod!
