Cobalt SS 2006, what is a 1/4 MILE time for stock?

Hey guys I have a cobalt ss 2006 (2.4l 171 hp), it is stock as it gets. I'm wondering what the 1/4 mile times are for these in general.

By the way my car is an automatic.

I just wanna have a time to try to reach when I go to the track this month.

Also is there any mods I can make to add horsepower, since its an automatic?

Nah. 16's And yes you can add an intake, downpipe, header, exhaust, tune... There's a couple thing you could do.

Is it true that racing an automatic takes no skill, just press on the gaz and off you go?

road and track magazine recorded a 1/4 mile time of 15.8 and 7.5 0-60 for a 2.4 auto cobalt. So like others have said around 16 or a shade under in perfect weather conditions. If you want it to be more faster get intake, header/downpipe, exhaust, and tune either from trifecta or hp tuners. Once you do all that it should net you low 15's in the 1/4 mile maybe even high 14's if your lucky with some racing slicks.

what? I dont think people give the 2.4 enough credit, its a pretty good engine, and on a 5spd you can show up quite a few other compacts.

A stock civic si, hands down would beat the 2.4, no offense

Where not saying it isnt a good engine, but simply that most other compacts would beat it untill you get bolt on's

stock, i made the same time of the ralliart 2006, mazda 3 with the 2.3 and sentra SE-R,
civic Si pass the 2.4 stock for sure

but with some mods and a good tune ,you have a chance, i raced vs a Si 2007 with intake + exhaust in the 1/4 mile and i win but it was very close, i made 15.11 and him 15.19, the guy was very impress by my 2.4

Good Point..lol.. but you know for a NA 4 cylinder they run pretty good.. and respond well to bolt on mods.. theres just not to much you can do with a 2.4 besides boosting it..

it def will not run 16s. i ran a 16.3 in my ls auto completely stock

put 93 octane in it, hold the brake down, preload the driveline and let her rip and you should see mid 15s in good conditions...

my manual with cold air intake and aftermarket header and 18 inch wheels (which makes it slower) and worn ass clutch runs 15.5. I imagine I could make that run a 15 flat with better clutch and stock wheels

Low 16's. Stock SS/SC's are high 14s.
